We would like to once again thank everyone who came out to our Halloween show last night with special thanks to Mad Cafe, Persian Rugs, Viva Mars, Home Movies, and Mellowkotzen. The costume prizes were awarded as follows: 1st - Cassy Goulding as The White Swan Cassy won the right to curate Soundtracked 24, our first event of 2012. 2nd - Jacquie Severs as a gnome Jacquie won free admission to every Broken Arts event from now until October 21, 2012. 3rd - John France as The Doctor John won a Broken Arts prize pack of zines, CD's, pins, stickers, and more. Best Duo - Kait Zarzour & Friend Kait and her friend won a date with Broken Arts. Bowling? Mini-golf? We'll see!

Soundtracked 20 Is Tonight!

Ladies and gents, Broken Arts' twentieth concert event and our first Halloween show happens tonight! Mad Cafe is located at 38 King St. E. in downtown Oshawa. Doors are at 7 p.m. Tonight's event is $7 or free if you're under the age of 13. We'll be playing a Halloween-themed party game called Werewolf from 7 to 8 followed by Mellowkotzen kicking off the music at 8:25, then Home Movies, Viva Mars, and Persian Rugs. And we'll be giving out prizes to our three favorite individual costumes and our favorite duo or group costume!

Mellowkotzen Join Soundtracked 20

Following news of Cat Planet's unfortunate cancellation from tomorrow evening's show, we are excited to announce that Mellowkotzen has signed on in place of them. Long-time Broken Arts fans may have seen Mellowkotzen play Soundtracked 2: Christmas way back in December 2009 or one of our many buskerfests in 2010. More recently Mellowkotzen members Jessie and Bruce could have been seen as members of New Threads, who played Broken Arts Fest and Soundtracked 17: Fairly Odd Folks. They are currently in the process of recording their debut album, which will be out this winter from Get Bent Records but they're taking a short break to come play Soundtracked 20, which goes down tomorrow evening at Mad Cafe.

Broken Arts On Television

Oh yeah. Set your recorders to channel 10 in the Oshawa area for tomorrow, Tuesday the 18th, from 11 a.m. to noon as Broken Arts and Home Movies will be on the talk show Daytime on Rogers Television! Ashley, Defne, Erin, and Harley will be promoting Soundtracked 20 this Friday and Michael Milosh will be joining us to play a Home Movies track in preview of his performance at Soundtracked 20. Tune in!

Soundtracked 20 Costume Prizes

Soundtracked 20, our first Halloween show, goes down this coming October 21st. As part of the festivities we'll be giving out three prizes for best individual costumes and one prize for best group or duo costume. The individual prizes are: -A Broken Arts prize pack featuring zines, CD's, magazines, pins, & more. -Free admission to every Broken Arts event for one year. -Creative rights to Broken Arts: Soundtracked 24, our first event of 2012. You tell us when you want it, where you want it, who you want to play, what you want the theme to be, what you want the poster to look like, and who you want on the guest list. We do all the work! The duo/group prize is a secret. So get to work on those costumes!

Soundtracked 20 announcement

On Friday, October 21 Broken Arts brings you a huge show, our first Halloween event! Head to Mad Cafe (38 King St. E.) for 7 p.m. Cover is $7 with kids 12 and under getting in for free. We've got the fantastic Toronto indiepop band Persian Rugs headlining the show. They just released their debut single through Cloudberry Records a couple months ago and the band comprises former members of The Diableros and The Airfields. Oshawa four-piece Viva Mars will take a break from recording their debut album to make their Broken Arts debut. Home Movies will make their triumphant return to a Broken Arts stage following their controversial Broken Arts Fest performance. And we've got the much-anticipated sophomore appearance of Toronto pop superstars Cat Planet. Not enough? Alright, how about we play a big murder mystery game at 7:15 before the bands even start playing? You want more? Fine. We'll give out prizes to the three best individual costumes and the best pair/group costume. How's that?
