Samples, Samples, Samples
So I think I’m gonna start creating a Sample Pack, or two...maybe three. I’ve got a few ideas, like maybe making a Horror Pack for indie films or a Sci-Fi one, probably for games at this point, but I might save that one for later down the line. After speaking to my tutor, he said I could do this for one of my modules next year and he suggested making a Pack for Electronic Music, as I mentioned the Sci-Fi Pack could be changed into sounds for D’n’B. He’s sent me some information on the sound designer for Nine Inch Nails, which made me think I could make an Electronic Music Sample Pack for music other than Drum and Bass.
I’ve had a little read about this guy, I just need to have a look at him actually making sound. One of my colleagues also put me in the direction of Diego Stocco, a composer and sound designer, and he does some crazy cool stuff! Including the “Sound Signature” for DTS.
There’s also a really awesome 40 minute video on the SoundWorks Collection with the sound designers from E2 about how they created some of the sounds and their workflows for the 2014 version of “Godzilla”, so I think I’m gonna steal some of their ideas and try and make them my own. Gonna be interesting and quite fun I think, so I’ll let you know how I’m getting on with that in the near future!
