Night train to Armenia! Sadly only second class tickets available, which means sharing a cabin with another couple. We got lucky and ended up sharing with a Japanese couple who were very quiet and considerate. In the end I think I actually managed to get some sleep despite border control waking us up at 1am. It was probably the best sleep I’ve ever had on a night train. Good Morning Mestia! I have never visited the Caucasian mountains before but I have to say they are spectacular! After a fairly long drive up from Batumi every turn took us into more and more dramatic scenery with snow capped mountains all around us. Mestia is in the Svaneti region of Georgia, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
