Seri Gumum - Malaysian Folklore
This Malaysian story is a cautionary tale about the consequences of disrespecting nature. In a forest, the Jakun tribe started to prepare the land for agriculture without seeking the spirits' permission. An old caretaker came by and warned them not to disturb the land and create farms elsewhere. Years passed by and their promise to her was forgotten causing calamity to fall on them. Did they survive the torrent and will they remember their promise to respect the land? This story is just one of the few that we will be featuring in our up-and-coming South East Asian folklore anthology and oracle deck!
