Photographer Pierre de Vallombreuse’s photo project "Souveraines" shows the Khasi society in India, Palawan society in the Philippines, Mosuo society in China and groups in Badjao, Malaysia. Each of these societies have incorporated matrilineal, non-hierarchical and/or egalitarian principles into their cultures. In other words, this is what gender equality looks like across the world.
