sometimes i tackle other children's books besides the One™ heh
had an urge to design the main cast of "The Golden Key, or The Adventures of Buratino" in my style; it's one of the more famous/beloved children's novels from Soviet to modern times. It started out originally as a translation/adaptation of Collodi's "Pinocchio", but ended up being rewritten into an original story that differs from the source material to the point of sharing very little of its plot or themes. Some of the characters remind those that could be found in Pinocchio - albeit their personalities and motives don't always coincide with their Italian counterparts.
From left to right we have: Buratino (some of yall had already seen him in my Merryfolk fanarts, cause he's also a part of that particular group lol), his creator/father papa Carlo, the porcelain doll Malvina and her poodle Artemon, Pierrot, Harlequin, Alice the fox, Basilio the cat, Karabas-Barabas the evil puppeteer and Duremar, his henchman and the seller of leeches.
p.s. idk where to find the English text if anyone's interested in the book, but there are several adaptations of it, including the subbed animated one.
