Ideal Scenario: SP Game and Movie/TV Show
Have the game set pre-book 1 with Skul as a playable character, and maybe Ghastly as a second playable character (optional co-op multiplayer?).
Nefarian is the main villain and China resumes her role as information broker, taking the function of a quest giver and merchant. It would make sense if you can buy/unlock new fighting move-sets/abilities in her library via a 'special book collection' only the player has access to. It also makes a lot of sense for her to be the one you can sell special collectables to.
The game would be used to build up Nefarian, the Elders and Mr Bliss more because honestly? Their deaths and the betrayals in book 1 kinda fell flat for me because we barely knew these characters. Same with Ghastly turning to stone. And the game could build these characters up so the events of the first book pack more of a punch.
And then the movie/TV-Show releases like a year after the game and follows the events of book 1 (first print) exactly, and it has the same style/art direction as the game (painterly 3D like Dishonoured 1 and Arcane), giving SP a coherent style identity instead of the all over the place stylistic mess we are dealing with right now where it seems like every new SP thing has wildly different style than the last one. Pick a style and stick with it.
Optimal: While the movies/series is going on, a second game will be developed set between either book 5 and 6 or 6 and 7 where Skul and Val are the playable characters and the story is about them taking a case between missions.
