I’ve been having thoughts on development about my space au fic for a while today and I really just wanted to share/put it down somewhere so that it stops bugging me when I’m alone with my thoughts.
It’s kinda like,,, notes on my AU as I go about writing it?
I may just update this as I continue to update the story itself. Especially since there’s also some significant difference than the tumblr/original space au. So for now...
Notes on “Chapter 7: That’s Very Clever”
I actually initially wanted Cole to find out of Jay’s betrayal by walking in on him having a conversation with Nya and Kai through his comm.
Like, I’ve been planning that since the beginning of the fic
I dunno what happened but I went a TOTALLY different route because I wasn’t planning on having Cole kiss Jay THAT early into the fic either.
So I guess when that happened, things just took a whole different turn and I was struck with an even BETTER idea: having JAY admit to him all on his own that he was going to betray Cole.
I mean... dang that cuts a DEEP wound.
And then... it just clicked??
It fell into place really well.
Also, I really like Harumi’s character in this than my initial Space AU because here, she’s on the side of the good guys, she has right intentions, the only problem is she goes about it the wrong way.
I guess in a way, as I was writing the fic I drew a lot of inspiration from The Good Place, Tangled, and The Guardians of the Galaxy.
This whole story is almost built around themes of trust, who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. What IS the good side and what is the BAD side.
Jay and Cole’s journey was similar to that of Eugene and Rap’s when Raps first left the tower. Heck, even some of the chapter titles are Tangled quotes/songs.
But The Good Place... ever since I started watching the show, and still today, I like to think about morals and just, being a good person with good intentions. That show really made me think, I love it to death. Anyways, this ties in with Space Crown because Harumi’s character explores that “good intentions, bad execution” when TGP explored “what is your motivation to do good deeds?”.
Anyways I THINK that’s all I had in my head right now. WOW that felt good to get it all down somewhere.
I shall update this as I go!
