Today marks three years since I started working on my original story project Space Ballet, so I thought it would be fun to redraw old pieces of each set of MCs! Starting us out is my beloved Space Nutcracker crew — Hans, Marie, and Fritz — who have teamed up to find Drosselmeyer after he was mysteriously kidnapped.

(over) two years ago I started writing a spontaneous space fantasy retelling of the Nutcracker, simply because I’d just seen a production of it and was all ✨inspired✨ (and my other idea was a regular fantasy retelling of it, but SPACE fantasy seemed so much cooler). And now two years later it’s expanded into a giant project that I love with all my heart, and I honestly can’t believe I’ve stayed focused on it long enough for it to expand as much as it has. As someone who's used to bouncing from story to story without making any real progress on anything, two entire years? And I keep coming back to it every couple months? Insane
Anyway, to celebrate, I drew a silly picture of the six main characters + yours truly trying to take a family picture. Emphasis on the trying XP

ohoho yay!! I shall use this opportunity to introduce the cast and crew of my beloved WIP Space Nutcracker :D
Marie Stahlbaum: the daughter of a senator who would much rather be an engineer but is stuck studying to also be a senator
Fritz Stahlbaum: Marie's mischevious and sneaky little brother who's tired of being left out
Hans a.k.a. the Nutcracker: a hotheaded rebellion agent who ran away from home and also has cool double swords
Harlequin, Columbine, and Sol-D13R (Sol): the Stahlbaum siblings' droids that Drosselmeyer invented to help them; Harlequin is a piloting droid, Columbine is a nurse droid, and Sol is a soldier/bodyguard droid
14 - what is your speed when writing?
it depends, but if I'm REALLY motivated and have lots of ideas/am at a particular spot in a WIP I've been waiting for, then I can crank out chapters like it's nobody's business
19 - do you plan out your projects? if yes, to what level? how well do you stick to your plans?
I do, but not until after a couple chapters. Usually I write out a rough outline in the form of a bullet-point-list and then go from there; I've found that my characters like to run away a lot so I usually don't outline chapter by chapter XP
the best thing about editing a book is that you don't have to work on it linearly. why work on fight scenes when you can skip around and strengthen all the scenes of an important plot twist instead?

have you ever wanted to know how much Marie and Hans argue? well
The androids were quite content to be on the ship for another day since they were androids and didn’t really care one way or the other. But Hans and Marie’s bickering was enough to make even artificial intelligence annoyed.
I just found the scene in my original WIP that somehow is the perfect bit to share to get people hooked. for some reason I'm weirdly delighted by this
me: wow this character’s backstory is so cool. I could write a short story about it
me, five seconds later: … I could also write a whole BOOK about it …
