Space Raider
Quick portrait of my Space Raider character Eira. ... Quick for me, that is.
8: The Space Priest
Across a few locations in the local galaxy are small platforms hovering in space. Each has an obelisk adorned with ancient characters and a glowing triangle at the top. In front of them sits a priest who neither talks, nor moves. Some say they’re mere statues or relics perserved by the vacuum of space. The lack of breathable oxygen at these holy locations hints towards the latter. Many people stop by them for a quick prayer, be they commoners, military or raiders.
2: The Alien Empress
Here’s a quick design of what I just made up for my Space Raider universe; the Empress of a big alien race. Then I did a quick color of her.
I did a draft with in blue, then inked without Undo. Since there’s no undo traditionally, I like to keep that trend going digitally.
My first entry for Inktober, following the Space Travelers list found here. I’m taking the opportunity to draw and explore the world of my Space Raider character. And doing it digital with my sleeping baby in my “free” arm.
1: The Dreamer
The second design [2012] of my Space Raider character, using the same base as last post and her new haircut.
The outfit got less metal features and more leather, going for a more adventuring appearance. Plus it got easier to look at with fewer distractions. The ribbon moved from the scarf to the head band and her eye gizmo got a leather strap as well. This design was more inspired by FFXI’s Corsair Artefact Armor 2. The barcode tattoo got replaced by a fosforic round tattoo. And instead of the protecting plates on her gloves, I gave her a futuristic-looking buckler to also perform the functions of the removed upper arm band.
The things that remained, and will still be there in this year’s redesign, are the amber-colored things on her chest and the devices on her waist and the eye glass.
Felt like redesigning my Space Raider. I decided to start with the haircut first and looked up a few bob-like cuts for reference and drew them. Then I mixed up certain features of them into the one used in the colored drawing, pose copied off this.
Her normal suit might not change much, but she definitely needs a better space suit to survive the rough, cold vacuum. At least something of an upgrade from the last design from 4.5 years ago.
For now here she is in her old, first design (2011) with her new haircut!
