Scorpius’ Sting Spread
This spread was requested by the delightful @discovering-witchcraft on whom I have a mini crush go check out their blog!!!!
So Scorpius is a neat one to follow Orion up with since it represents the scorpion that stung him and nearly killed him before he was revived with an antidote. For this reason, I am making this a "disaster spread” (and yes, this is the astrology constellation too...). As always, positions are below but the final interpretation is up to you!
1. Shaula: Also known as Lambda-Scorpii, this star is part of the scorpion’s sting. It represents the core of the issue you are facing. What is causing you pain? What is the true disaster in this situation?
2. Lesath: Upsilon-Scorpii is the second star that makes up Scorpius’ sting. This position is crossed over Shaula because it represents potential good parts of the crisis. These two stars together are called the Cat’s Eyes, so this position helps you see parts of the issue that you may not have recognized otherwise. What is the silver lining here? How is this situation salvageable?
3. Antares: This red supergiant star is known as the “heart of the scorpion”. For this reason, and because it is a dying star, Alpha-Scorpii represents the place where you can start making changes to your situation. Where can you mount the strongest attack against your misfortune? What is the best strategy with which to move forward?
4. Dschubba: This star is part of a binary star system which may or may not have a third member. In this way, Delta-Scorpii represents the possible ways in which this situation will continue to unfold. How will your life change after you receive the antidote to the sting? In what ways, for better or force worse, will things be different or the same?
5. Constellation: Scorpius has so many stars that I was unable to draw out its shape using the positions of the cards. For this reason I had to make the rest of the constellation an optional oracle position. This part tells you about the environment in which you find yourself. How can you use outside resources to your advantage as you deal with this crisis? Who or what is here to help you?
