Pat the Bunny
You wouldn't think of me as a punk type of person, but my cool ex-boyfriend made me listen to Pat the Bunny forever ago. When he came to visit he made hitlers-whore4 and I both listen to it again, because he's literally in love with this guy. She started loving his music and I went along with it, so I listened to it whenever we hung out. A month later, we found out about a concert he was playing in this underground (literal basement) venue in Seattle. We begged our parents right up until the concert date and they knew how much it meant for us to go, so we put on jeans and a tee shirt, not telling them how we were ACTUALLY going to dress. Or else we wouldn't have been able to go lol.
My friend hitlers-whore4 and I got dressed on the ferry over to Seattle, slutted ourselves up, and looked hot and dangerous LOL. Well she looked like a hooker, which was her goal, and I looked more hipster than anything. All I wanted was to look hot for my ex, which is weird, I know, but he's cool.
We got to Seattle with like 3 hours to spare, and ended up smoking on curbs all around Seattle and wasting gas just driving around. Finally it neared the time of the concert and we followed large groups of people dressed in tattered black clothing into someone's backyard. It literally felt like lines leading to the holocaust, especially since we had no idea where we were going.
Leading up to the concert, we tried finding ANYTHING on this venue. Literally the only thing we could find was the address and an ominous blog post from 2008 with little to no detail on how this venue worked. It is called FBK, or Fire Breathing Kangaroo, and if I could even FIND a place to leave a review, I would. It was hella scary trying to figure out where to go.
We chilled in the backyard of this house, and people did graffiti on these 3 large cement walls enclosing the backyard of the venue. At first, we thought it was going to be outside, until people started rushing down these back stairs into a cramped basement. The basement was decked out with drawings, art, graffiti, and colors everywhere. There were a few support posts leading up to the ceiling which was only maybe 6 feet tall, maybe a little shorter. For me, it was perfect, being on 5 foot 3. If felt as if there was 100 people squishing into this tiny basement to see Space Wasters, the opening act.
hitlers-whore4 and I were looking around mimicking the other punks doing their little head wobble lol. And all of a sudden, the guitar part gets a little intense and people start shoving back and forth. Now, I know this is real moshing, but I had never experienced anything like this from any of the concerts I've been to, which has been a long, long list. My friend got punched in the eye within the first 5 seconds, and was shoved up to the front, I was still frozen in place of what just happened until she grbbed my arm and helped me shove up to the front, and then we just moshed hardcore like everyone else.
This concert was 4 nights ago, and I still have bruises on my ankles from where people kept kicking them.
After Space Wasters, we needed some air. It was super claustrophobic, and sweaty. Holy shit it was so sweaty. hitlers-whore4 and I headed up to smoke for a bit, and the lead singer/guitarist of Space Wasters come by us. I immediately start talking to him, and offer him to smoke with is, and tell him that my friend wants him to sign her tits. He gets suuuuuper excited, first tits he's ever signed. Got some pictures with him, met the rest of his band, and my friend made him laugh with her use of the words "piecing a stoge". Later we realized he was Meatpie Meatpie from facebook, and he posted a lot of stuff on the event page, so we kind of fangirled over that (which is hard to explain, more of an inside thing).
We completely missed Moon Bandits, but from the 2 seconds we caught at the end, it wasn't too bad. We immediately needed a spot in the front to see Pat the Bunny, we were determined. He was trying to come down the stairs, but the crowd was so packed, Pat was trapped beside me for a while. There was sweat dripping from the ceiling and people were just standing still.
Finally Pat was all set up in the corner, and we scooted up to the front through all the people moshing, because it's literally super easy to do that, wow. Meatpie Meatpie was sort of his security guard, and there was some guy with a backpack trying to mosh ON Pat, and Meatpie Meatpie casually walked over and blocked him. Since hitlers-whore4 and I made friends with Meatpie Meatpie, he kept smiling at us and checked in with me to see if I could see over the people in front of me. He was super nice.
Pat the Bunny was just phenomenal. I don't even know how to describe it all. He sang all new stuff, except "Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of Your Fist" and I kinda fangirled. That song was the first one I knew from 2 whole years ago when I was dating this guy who got me into Pat the Bunny.
After the concert, we got shirts, he signed a CD, and I got a hug from him. The only downside to the whole concert was that my ex-bf was supposed to come, and his brother's van broke down. I think he was even more disappointed than me that he couldn't see the concert, since all of his words that ever come out of his mouth are Pat the Bunny lyrics.
Overall, best concert hitlers-whore4 has ever been to since it was her first, and it's probably in my top 10, since it ever lacked any adrenaline.
And this venue though, if you have any questions, like I did, you can ask me anything about it. FBK in Gerogetown, Seattle. I had no idea what it was going to be like, and I know there's not a lot about it online.
Fucking hell. Even the males at Elronds secret meeting in Rivendell are sat with their legs 50 miles apart. Legolas' legs are soooooo spread.
but more than anything fuck the plugs that take up both outlets
