I've been doing the same thing (punishing myself for moments where I'm not struggling and railing and Feeling Intensely) but I think we're going to have to accept its untenable to sustain that level of emotion for four years. There needs to be a space we can carve out for quiet that does NOT mean we're normalizing, or complacent, or in denial. This is the exact space we are fighting for, no? For everyone to have the privilege of peace and safety? I think if it the experience is possible in
ourselves we need to allow ourselves that without guilt. You can pick up emotion at any time. Rest is still essential.

well, i can’t!!!! i’ve had to hold three phone interviews this morning that just turned into me making that muffled not-sob on speakerphone. “so h -- hhkk -- how w -- how does activ -- activism move fw -- hold on, i’m breaking up.” re: will they think you’re a drama queen, if they’re not white they’ll probably get it and if they are white they will probably get it too because you live in Liberal Elite Hollywood but either way they can suck it.
