Dr. Carrie Nugent is a staff scientist at NASA’s Infrared Processing and Analysis Center at Caltech, and a member of the NEOWISE team seeking new asteroids. She noted a lack of asteroids named after women and people of color—resulting in asteroids named after Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and Malala Yousafzai. She is the host and producer of a weekly astronomy podcast titled Spacepod.
