The kind where they launch themselves out of their tub with their mouth open the second you open it, and instead of realizing it is in fact not food time, spend 10 minutes playing blood pressure cuff with your arm until your hand starts changing colors and you have to unwrap her gently and explain that even if she managed to kill you, what then? Can’t feed you if I’m dead, you absolute fool.
I mean, they basically have three modes: standard, cranky, and lazy.
Okay... Well had to sent the tablet for repairs and the laptop decided to go through rounds of updated and therefore will keep shutting down for hours on end... Hence I couldn’t finish the story inspired by the prompt @havencrew
The prompt for today February 13, 2018 is:
“You’re having nightmares again, aren’t you?”
“How did you know?”
Of course, it’s not like my Haven stories are that inspiring to read so I’m just posting this to act as a small push/shove for myself to write more and stay active somehow in the fandom, so it’s not betaed and obviously I barely got the computer up and must post before the anti-virus updates too... So, don’t read this yet (sorry).
He was exhausted... The lack of air burning his lungs and making his muscles cramps. He'd been running for what seemed like hours with no real sense of direction; the grayish tint of the over-bearing skies messing with his understanding of this unknown land.
He remembered that he had to leave or was it to come back? Nothing seemed certain anymore. Mist was now rising from the ground, making it easier to trip on overgrown roots or hit his tired feet on a rock. He didn't feel the pain or the obstacles but he had to pick himself up each time, hoping to find his bearings and finally getting out.
The bag he was holding was slipping from his mud covered hand and as he brushed each palm against his ripped pants he realized how sweaty they were. He had to stop and take stock of his state of being, he might be headed for a heart attack and not even know it. Still, the eerie noise rushing through the leaves of this dark forest was too stressful to stop now and off he was again, dodging low hanging branches, looking for a place to hide, running as fast as he could.
It's with a gasp that he sat.
The bed was drenched with his sweat, the sheets completely entwined around his lower limbs, his heart beating a staccato and his eyes locked on Duke's.
Nathan stopped breathing for a moment. Where was he? Still in the void? Was Duke back? Was he dead?
It was a minute, or an hour later, he couldn't tell, but somehow he found himself engulfed in an embrace so tight he wasn't certain he was still breathing, and then it hit him. The smell of Sea salt and sandalwood, all Duke! He had to verify, so without any thought he let his tongue dart out and lick a small path on the skin right there, in the crook of the neck almost smothering him and he felt alive again.
The scent and the pressure were real, so he just needed to get his bearings back. "Duke?" the call was raw, the voice broken, the sound barely a whisper but he needed reassurance.
"Yes Nathan, I'm here. Just breathe, okay?"
The hold on Nathan reduced in pressure but now he could feel Duke large hand going up and down his back. Part of his t-shirt was bunched around his middle and stopped the soothing movement. He wanted to wiggle out, try to be more comfortable but it meant that he could lose the contact and right now, it was the only one that showed him that he was alive.
The door opened and so much cold air came thru, he could feel the shiver going through Duke and the goosebumps rising on the surface of the skin. He couldn't resist, he dropped a kiss right there, and then another one. He wouldn't get distracted from the only thing that felt real.
And then something else soothed his frayed mind, a hand going through his hair and a voice he'd recognize anywhere, Audrey. "You are home Nathan, you are safe" she was saying and naturally his head bent to the side and let her fingers scrap his scalp, anchoring him in a way he could never describe.
He tried to open his eyes to get a better sense of his surroundings, not much to see except a corded neck, a red plaid shirt, dark curls.
They were talking over his head. "Can you too get on the sofa? I'll change the sheets?" "Shouldn't we get some liquid in him? He is burning!" "I brought everything you asked" "Well I suppose, one thing at a time"
"Hey buddy, Nate, we are going to move. Can you walk?" He recognized Duke tone, one of concern. Yet, he didn't feel like moving, or testing the waters, or whatever. He was perfectly content, right where he was. He burrowed further and refused to answer.
They all moved at once. He wasn't even sure how it was possible but Duke pushed himself up and with Audrey at his back he felt him putting an arm under his bent knees and try to shove the sheets away. It took two tries but he ended up nested against Duke' torso
and without the stress he would have assumed it would take to carry him they had reached the sofa.
Duke let himself fall and settled Nathan on his lap, bringing him close. Nathan still couldn’t feel him without Audrey’s hands on him s he did the best next thing, put his nose just behind Duke ear, close enough to smell him, see him breathe. He’d like to hug him back, but it will simply be a social gesture, he wouldn’t get the full effect of it.
He could hear Audrey busying herself around the apartment and that reassured him slightly. He really was home, and the void was a thing of the past.
He drifted off, using the slow breathing of Duke to let his mind rest. He didn’t want to think. Or remember. Or make decisions. Or fight another battle. He just wanted to be here. In the now. With the two people he needed.

I love the gifs & appreciate the time you spend doing this. I'd love to have the following gifs if you ever have a chance (1) Nathan drunk dancing when he loses his position of Chief I think at the end of S2E3 (2) Audrey being saved by Duke after her abduction followed by how she folds in Nathan arms on the floor (3) Duke lifting and saving the girl during the episode when the deep sea pressure is wrecking havoc in town. You may already have them on though, let me know.
At this point I think on this blog exists just about any scene from the show involving tose 3.
(1) It’s actually s02e08 and there are few gifsets of particular scene (x) (xx)
(2) (x)
(3) (x)
I hope these are fine. At some I will come to these episodes again to play some more but this is what exists right now. And I’m always up for interactions and always can ask me stuff which I might be able to help with. It would be my pleasure.
Name 3 Classic Book you'd want your friends to discuss with you?
Thank you so much for stopping by and asking, what a pleasurable surprise!
For me, there are two types of reads I use to enjoy; those that made me feel for all the people that were lost, abused, taken advantage of and those that explore Art and it’s finest points to make us fully appreciate what being human is about. I can confess that I cried with each of these stories when I discovered them, and even now, knowing how they develop, I still have a tear or two falling but no regrets!
I travelled a lot all my life so the books I cared about may not be Classics every where but a few of the books I still love to this day are the following (in no particular orders):
* Chiens perdus sans colliers is a 1954 book about how the judicial system treated young children and teenagers until a particular judge with a heart started taking a special interest in them and hoped to improve the way minors are treated both by the courts and by this one foster home… It became a movie called The Little Rebels in 1955 with the famed French actor Jean Gabin as the judge but I never watched the movie. In that vein, I was so upset with the world after having read the short story Boule de Suif … I couldn’t believe how intolerant and pissy we could be as human beings and that changed most of my outlook on life for awhile). But there is another book I would like to add for all the fans of Les Miserables , that is fantastic in it’s own right but becomes incredible in the last pages as the conclusion is written. It’s called Germinal and has a knack to put the human condition and heroism in perspective in a way I had not read at the time.
* Perfume, the story of a murderer (Le Parfum, histoire d’un meurtrier) is the story of an 18th century perfumer who becomes obsessed with the idea of bottling the scent of young womanhood. I had never realized how to look and describe things/scents/colors around me until I read that book. Suddenly I lived for the moment, to appreciate all the incredible things that made our universe the fabulous place it is; that we all -too often- took for granted and with the introduction of The Portrait of Dorian Gray that story certainly had me thinking about perception and depth in a completely different way that impacts me still to this day. I’ve never seen the movie with Alan Rickman but the book is an amazing and thrilling read. As a third contribution I’d love to add a small book which too few people know about called Letters to a Young Poet which is a quick read of compilations of letters between a seasoned, appreciated and lauded author and a young fan in dire need of a mentor. It’s beautiful in terms of the elder not taking himself seriously but understanding and valuing the need of the 19 year old to get some guidance in this new, exciting and frightening path that is writing. I know that in the business world mentoring is essential and I wish it would be as valued in the authoring universe because I’ve learned so much about myself, about creativity, and about the appreciation of art through this little book, I can say it made me a better, more confident and stronger person thanks to it.
At the end of the day these are books I read that I believe would be great to discuss with friends for sure. If you follow this blog, I invite you all to share your list as well, I’d love to discover some more fascinating reads and thank you again anonymous for this question, it was great to get back in time and finding books that mattered in my formative years.

THANK YOU for Participating and helping us spread the word & ENJOY!
Watched the show when it was on TV and was physically depressed when they didn't renew it... I thought the characters were well developed and I even enjoyed the bad guys which is rare... Now I am watching Zoo just because I missed Miles lol... Anyway it's a better apocalypse than many shows sprouting all over our screens and I would have loved to see more episodes!
It’s so funny that you should say that, because I started watching Revolution because I’m waiting for more Zoo and watched to see more Mitch XD
I think one of the things Revolution did very well was not really having villains, per se (except at the end, the Patriot leader). Everyone else seemed to be, you know... human. It was all humans scrambling around the apocalypse squabbling over resources (from food to medical supplies to land to other humans) and acting like people. Good people and bad people and grey-area people who do good things for bad reasons and bad things for good reasons, and good things with good intentions that go horribly horribly wrong. Even when I didn’t like what characters were doing, I liked them as characters. That’s hard to do, I develop dislikes very easily and rarely give them up again once I’ve decided not to like a character...
