How Many Spare Keys Should You Have for Your Car, and What Are the Risks of Having Too Many?
Experiencing a car lockout is always frustrating, and having a trustworthy locksmith Durham NC make spare keys for your vehicle can prevent such incidents. However, having an excessive number of spare keys can pose problems for both you and your vehicle. Here’s an overview of how many keys you should ideally have and the risks associated with having too many.
How Many Spare Keys Should You Have?
Ideally, you should have your original key and two spare ones. One spare can be kept at home, in your purse, or somewhere secure, and the other can be given to someone you trust, such as your closest friend or spouse. Two spares will increase the chances that you’ll be able to get back into your car in case of a lockout or lost keys. If you currently only have one key for your car, a locksmith will be able to create the spares for you, even if you have smart keys.
What Are the Hazards of Having Too Many?
Too many spares increases the chance that you’ll lose track of them, potentially letting them fall into the wrong hands and giving access to your car for someone you didn’t intend. Too many keys on your keyring can also add weight that pulls at the ignition switch. With repeated weight exposure, this can wear down the switch and break it. Your keys may stop turning in the ignition or get stuck, leaving you unable to start your car or remove the key. Keep no more than six standard keys or two smart models on your keyring at a time. Excess keys, gadgets, and charms should be kept on a separate ring to protect your ignition.
Too many copies also pose another problem. When you duplicate a key, it won’t be exactly the same as the original key. Some details aren’t preserved on the duplicate. This can cause glitches and issues with low-quality copies, such as having to wiggle them in the ignition to work, which wears the key and the ignition down. Even more substantial problems arise if you then make a copy of the duplicate key. The second duplicate will be even further from the original and may not work at all.
Ok, so I literally facepalmed and cackled when I realized the pun/joke/whatever that is SPARE KEYS. How do people think of this stuff because it's fucking amazing
Honestly, it's a mixed bag between deep thought and random luck, cuz I only happened to notice that two things missing in Salt Route were Spare and keys cuz I was blasting brain cells looking for a way to restore access to Mercy LMAO.
...I just realized that aborting Salt still doesn't offer a way to talk to any of the Addisons with Spamton on your party and the option to spare them... by the time you get to a point where you have your [[spare keys]] back, Spamton's already back at his shop until you transfer him to NEO......
Maybe they have extra lines if you have Dealmaker equipped when they gather in the street to tell you his story.........
