Openly state the bisexuality!!!!!!!!! I am SO done with media portraying characters where they are CLEARLY bi but never say it. They were straight once and are all of a sudden gay.
@sparhke said to sorrynotsorrybi: About the bi character Wishlist: For me personally, it may be different then some others so don’t base this off just me. I’m not really offended by anything to much, but I think one of the characters changing they’re sexual identity to straight or gay can be a harmful stereotype and would be good to avoid, even though it’s a normal thing to find out that you have a different sexuality then you originally though, it can be a bad stigma. And for sexual scenes maybe keep threesomes out possibly
Anonymous said to sorrynotsorrybi: For the bi wishlist. It would be cool if one of the bi characters has only dated one gender. I see too many places where it makes it seem as if you’re not actually bi unless you’ve dated EVERY SINGLE PERSON. And the other char. Accept their choices.
Anonymous said to sorrynotsorrybi: Bialogue thing: I’d like to see bi characters that don’t have 50/50 split attraction, but still know that they’re valid. I’d like to see biphobic characters get a beat down. Bisexual characters explicitly feeling attraction for nonbinary genders. Wide range of sex and romance attitudes e.g. not all unabashedly promiscuous. Bisexual!men! Internalised bi and homophobia they have to overcome.
Excellent wishlist items. For the changing orientations thing that several people mentioned, I want to be clear: that is totally cool for people to do irl! It’s the way it’s used in media to invalidate bi identities that we’re kinda over. btw, I’m going to compile all of these and post an ultimate wishlist in a few days, for the original anon and any other authors out there.
What’s on your bi character wishlist? What do you want to see, and what stereotypes do you want authors to avoid?
