So I have completed my shopping list for the tix clock and I am about to order the parts.
LEDs (adafruit's neopixels)
74HCT245 level shifter (more on this to come)
And already have on hand:
300 to 500 Ohm resistor(s)
capacitor (1000 µF, 6.3V or higher)
Adafruit's uberguide on their neopixels pointed out a few best practices that made me add some of the above parts. I will also be visiting technobly's github page again soon to port the neopixel library over to the spark core.
While I am waiting for them to arrive I am going to doing some prototyping for the case and maybe work on writing a bit of the code using just a few regular LEDs.
This will allow me to figure out how to use the park core to communicate with third party API's such as google (for the new unread message feature), weatherunderground (for the weather beacon feature) and since it is a clock and all maybe I should try getting the time from the work wide interwebs and see if I can display it in some fashion (like on LCD screen I have) just as proof of concept.
That will be more than enough to keep me busy and with adafruit's super fast shipping I doubt I will even be able to come close to getting that all working before the parts arrives.
