Perfect Digivolution Tree: Sparrowmon

I am really feeling Xros Wars era digimon for this project so lets go with one of my favorites from the season the part bird part jet with cute little cartoon/anime laser guns sparrowmon.

she does not beat the yellow latias and latios allegations for aesthetics. but digimon has hit way more designs before pokemon did them than the other way around.

this time around only 5 evolutions the 6th slot is reserved for all Digixros evolutions. arguably that could be 2 or 3 slots but it is mostly just the one.

RaptorSparrowmon

did not appear in the Xros Wars anime which focused more on DigiXros and also digimon slowly growing as they age instead of digivolving, i would say this is a big enough change to be a straight up digivolution.

loses some points for losing its little arms and laser guns.

Raptordramon

the name is referencing a different kind of raptor but i must admit it kinda fits nicely it mechanical parts are kinda similar, it's yellow, and it has wings. plus it does have it's own dumb little mechanical arms

MailBirdramon

a mechanical bird like digimon to a mechanical bird dragon digimon from the same season makes sense as an option. I like digimon from the same "generation" to have some connections and with no dedicated rookie in sight its not like half the digimon from this season would be sharing evolutions this way.

also if it was in a game having multiple 3 forms with access to DigiXros just makes sense for establishing the mechanic that would probably be reintroduced alongside it- like hybrids, armor digivolution, mode changes, and in battle dna digivolution are for the digimon associated with them.

Deputymon

whoever allowed kotemon the wooden sword wielding kendo digimon to digivolve into the gun digimon had a really good sense of humor and I approve.

I am going to do something similar here toylike laser guns into realistic pistols wielded by a bigger pistol is pretty funny.

also both digimon are pretty toylike, toyetic even ( sorry if i am using that word wrong, Sparrowmon is very reminiscent of various cute scifi and transforming/combining robot toys ( very on purpose with the fusion mechanic in this series) and deputy's small stature and fun design give the vibes of some sort of fantasy cowboy toy. realistic guns don't fly as a toy design these days ... for many reasons but deputymon has also been badly censored as a scifi watergun looking design in the past so that just increases my opinion that he is a toy themed digimon.

Trailmon-C-89

let's get a little weird with this last one.

I have always liked the aesthetic of a machine with a cylindrical front end and a big eye painted on it like its some sort of big mechanical beast, kinda like what WWI and II fighter pilots painted on their planes.

Jetmon and trailmon share this face shape but are very different types of machines and thats some good variety for digivolutions.

thats right I picked a trailmon, yep they are champion levels, yep i picked the one from Digimon Next before i picked one from frontier, yep it's name way is less memorable than the other trailmon

we have hardly seen any trailmon since Frontier and well with Locomon and Grandlocomon there isn't a lot of reason for them to include more trains in the main series, but thats too bad cuz they made em and I think most of the trailmons are more charming designs than Locomon/Grandlocomon.
