PSA: In light of impending buffoonery to be inflicted upon us by @staff @changes I'm emptying my likes, drafts, and queue of almost 2k posts ASAP and prepping to clear out for good. Apologies in advance for minor spamming.
Tumblr is the gif website so if it becomes fundamentally hostile to creators, we gifmakers will be creatively homeless. In the event I feel I have to walk away permanently, I don't want to leave things I enjoy unshared. The creators of those gifs, edits, works of art, etc. deserve the notes/circulation while they can still see and enjoy them.
If it seems like I'm dramatically settling my affairs here on Tumblr, I apologize. I just don't want to get caught off guard and unprepared when @staff @changes strike again. If I'm going to get pushed out, I want to go out on my own terms. Fingers crossed for the best, prepared for the worst.
Okay, update time. I've mostly finished reblogging my likes, the posts in my queue, and I'm nearly done emptying my drafts. I'm currently cycling back through my own archive to reblog my old gifs.
There are dozens of folders in my external drive containing literally thousands of unfinished gifs from a multitude of fandoms. I'll try to tackle a decent percentage of those while giffing current interests, but real life is nuts, so we'll see how much progress I make on that front. 😅
It's weird to labor under the feeling that there is a ticking clock on your creative output. Assuming @staff still intendeds to screw over all creatives on this platform by implementing devastating changes to the way reblogs function, there's no way of knowing when that ticking clock will run out.
Unless/until they tell us they are no longer pursuing their own self-immolation, I'm giffing like each set might be my last. Fingers crossed @staff regain a smidgeon of sanity and decency, and there are yet years of gifs to make and share!
