I wanted to share this to encourage others to motivate past your comfort zone in all parts of your life. I chose the topic of Spartan obstacles/races, but also have ones for family and work.
Grit Challenge 3-Part 2: Grit as a Lifestyle
MAKE IT PUBLIC. SHARE YOUR NEW GRIT LIFESTYLE WITH SOMEONE.
Be sure to discuss the following:
1. How did Grit become your friend?
I found that I can usually learn or do most things by persevering or finding an alternate way of doing something. It’s not always easy but I can make things happen if wanted/needed
2. How did Grit give you purpose?
Grit gives me purpose by earning something I want instead of having it given to me or taking the easy route. If I have a hard run I could take the short route, but taking the long route is more beneficial in the long run. It also builds mental stamina in all areas of life, i.e. If I made it through that, I can make it through this kind of thinking. It also gives me a sense of pride to accomplish something hard that I thought I may not be able to do, or to learn and build on it if I don’t finish the first time. A challenge and something to work towards
3. How did Grit become your new lifestyle?
By incorporating it whenever possible in small and large ways, like not using the heater or air in the car for 24 hours. Small thing, but it was uncomfortable slightly and makes you think about getting through an event. Build those up and larger things won’t seem as bad. Using the downside and upside thinking and also, “is this getting me closer or further from my true north/goals” were huge tools in making grit my new lifestyle.
