They had made their way to Atlas simply to return stolen armament and artificial soldiers they had come across during a missions back in Vale, but now the General wanted to speak with the team personally...Those bots couldn’t probably be that important could they?

Of course not, Viola though. Aside of the possibility of someone misusing them and inciting more tension between the kingdoms, a simple return of stolen Atlasian technology shouldn’t amount to an audience with James Ironwood.

This trip surely had amounted for much more than what they expected...

“I know I was...during the tournament that is.”

Now, the General couldn’t possibly think he was that gullible to be swayed with flattery alone, could he?It reeked of desperation, and Viola knew the reason for it. Weiss Schnee was missing. She was supposed to be the one singing at the Academy’s opening ceremony, but within less than a week to the even, the girl vanished. They surelly could have hired somebody else, but no singer in Atlas had what Ironwood needed.

He did not just need talent, he also needed inspiration. The kind from someone who made it through that horrible night.

“I suppose I can’t deny the General of the very army we are surrounded by, could I?“ Viola replied with a fake laugh. A tired laugh. Met with another tired laugh.

The travel there had certainly exhausted Team VCTA, but Viola could not imagine how holding 1/4th of the world on your shoulders could feel, so he complied. It was the least he could do for the drained man before them...

“I’m glad to hear. I’ll make sure to have you all given the appropriate clearance to remain at school-grounds until after the ceremony. I can’t guarantee I’ll be available, but should you need anything, you now know where my office is. Thank you again children, for everything.“

Children.

They hadn’t felt like that in a long time. Not after entering Beacon, not after it fell. And he hadn’t felt like that the longest, so much that it felt wrong to hear the word leave the older man’s mouth.

Excusing themselves, Team VCTA left the General’s cold office and marched back into the familiar, but unsettling feeling of the Academy’s halls.Save for the change int he color pallet and presence of androids, it felt just like home. It felt just like Beacon.

And it felt terrible.
