Love Letter

Day 5: Promises/"There are not enough stars in the sky to line the extension of my love, nor the longing for your image, when we're apart."

Summary: A love letter from Spain to Austria, written some time after the War of Spanish Succession.

Cariño,

My heart aches the longer we are apart. It seems my love for you has only grown since the war. There’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t give to be back in your arms, to hold you, to hear your sweet voice whisper “Ich liebe dich.” My body yearns for your touch like a flower yearns for the sunlight. 

Being with France isn’t quite the fairytale he wants it to be. The “Country of Love” will never love me the way you did, and I will never love another as I loved, and still love, you. There are not enough stars in the sky to line the extension of my love, nor the longing for your image, when we’re apart. I swear to you, mi amor, that I will find my way back into your arms. One day, perhaps in a world where we no longer have to hide our love, where our marriage isn’t a political arrangement, I will be with you again. 

I need you, Cariño, like I need the air I breathe. If it would make you mine again, I would reopen this old wound and serve my heart to you on a silver platter. We will be together again, I promise you this, no matter how many centuries it takes. Te amo.

Note: The line about Spain reopening an old wound is a reference to a headcanon of mine that he was the one whose heart the French pirate François l'Olonnais cut out and ate.

Btw, sorry to have kept you waiting, it's pretty unforgivable of me and I apologize deeply for it 😭🙈🙏

But I do already have the prompts ready and all I have to do is the actual graphics for the post for SpAus Week 2025. Tbh I noticed in the past couple years that announcing the date before the prompts actually made it harder for some people to come back later and check for the actual prompts, so I hope that despite the delay it'll actually play in everyone's favour after all 🙏🌸

Anyways, I was thinking of planning it for the first half of July!! Mentioning it here just to push myself to actually work on the graphics asap, but yeah!!~

Are crackfics allowed in SpaAus week?

I'm not sure what you mean exactly..?

In general I'd say they are not allowed, but I feel like the term 'crackfic' could comprise many different things.
