Tip of the Day: The Audio Sweet Spot
If you take a gander at the different types of houses your DJ friends live in, you’ll notice that they’re built completely different and the speakers might not be setup in the areas that you would have them. It might look like a bedroom with a simple table with two speakers on each end, or it might be a brick loft with high ceilings and much to echo on. No matter where they live, there is always an area in the room where the speakers sound better than ever. This is known as the sweet spot. The sweet spot is an area where everything lines up magically, usually adjacent to some sort of seat or cushion. Ideally, the couch should be the preferred area of the sweet spot – but this also leads to other issues too, like etiquette. One should never hog the sweet spot if showing it off to neighbors or friends, and one should always force your guests to listen carefully for the difference in the sweet spot and spots that are not.
