Here’s the FE Fates portrait set commission for @ridersbane! This was the first spear fighter portrait I’ve made so far and I’m super happy with the end result! Such a cool character design I got to work on too 😊

Spear Fighter (Fighter Archetype)

 One of the earliest weapons ever invented, the spear is a simple but versatile weapon, and is the ancestor of pretty much any piercing weapon that came after it. Longer spears can strike while keeping foes at bay, while shorter, lighter ones can be used as a ranged weapon in an emergency, or as ammunition if carried in bulk.

Additionally, the haft of the spear in the right hands can be used to block similarly to a quarterstaff. That, and the fact that attacking with it uses your foes’ own momentum just as much as your own in many cases, means you don’t have to be especially strong to get use out of it, though obviously strength helps.

While we’ve seen fighter archetypes that effectively use spears and polearms in conjunction with shields, today we’re looking at a fighter that specializes in using spears and those in the same category by themselves, mastering this ancient and time-honored design.

 Rather than train with the heaviest armors and tallest shields, they instead prefer more medium armors. What’s more, while they can use shields, they prefer not to, training to dodge foes attacks, including dancing around foes to get in position, their spears making for an excellent counterbalance.

What’s more, they can also use their weapon to parry and knock aside incoming attacks, replying with their own. While this puts their own weapon out of position briefly, it still can provide adequate protection. Over time, their mastery grows to mitigate this weakness.

As one might expect, these fighters train with their spear-type weapons to the near exclusion of all others.

A simple archetype that provides a different way to block incoming damage, it might appeal to some. The biggest trick is to know when to parry and when to let your armor take the hit. Definitely do your research to find feats and the like that let you fight from multiple ranges while using spears, and build with tanking in mind and high accuracy.

 There’s actually a decent selection of weapons that fall under the spear group, so pretty much any culture and tradition from around the world might serve as a good basis for your character. Others that study different types of weaponry may mock the spear for it’s primitive origins, but there’s no denying it’s might when brought to bear on foes.

  Once a famed hero, Urmon the Spear is now nothing more than the town drunk, getting by on what good graces and patience his hometown still has for him. Little does anyone know that he is being preyed upon by a spirit of inebriation turned flesh, a ginever, seeking to make a meal out of the fallen hero.

 Favored for their simple, thrusting attacks that don’t interfere with wings during flights, spears are actually fairly common among the wyvaran, and true masters can be seen by the way they time a javelin toss with a powerful downbeat of their wings to avoid interfering with each other.

 While other nations consider it the weapon of peasantry, the people of Elmaro have elevated spear combat to an art form, and foolish is the general that dismisses the stories and sends cavalry into what they assume are conscripted commoners.

[Request] Grounded Warrior Princess

Anonymously requested, here is my take on Spear Fighter Hinoka. I really like how this one came out, in general. (though I have a small qualm with the inner sleeves.) Pretty simple and pretty nice.

Now that Moonling's given me info on how to make Awakening textures, you might see me dabble in that, in the future.

I updated Hotaru’s portraits! It’s been a long time since I drew them, so I figured I should draw them for improvement checks!

Hotaru

★Boon/Bane★ ๑Skill Boon ๑Luck Bane

★Backstory★ Hotaru was abandoned by her biological parents in a forest clearing. She was discovered by her adoptive parents surrounded by fireflies, hence her name. She grew up in Igasato and due to her adoptive parents’ wishes of having a child that became a servant to the royal family, Hotaru was trained in ninjutsu with Suzukaze and Saizou under their father, Saizou the Fourth (Hotaru’s adoptive parents worked under the Saizou clan). However, she was terrible at stealth despite being able to hit vital points accurately, resulting in her being punished frequently, usually by cleaning. One day, she witnessed the Hoshidan royal army spear fighter division and was enamored by their fighting style. This led her to imitate the techniques with her broom every time she was punished. She eventually dropped her ninjutsu teaching and picked up the naginata, much to the dismay of her parents. Recruited after completing Chapter 7 of Birthright and Chapter 8 of Revelation

Unfortunately, Hotaru is only good at making dorayaki and is terrible at cooking anything else ๑Blame Saizou for her spice roulette. He introduced to spices one day andHotaru loved it since. ๑Frequently mistaken as male due to her preference of masculine clothing (because they’re more combat oriented) and short hair

IT DONE @crimdima apologies for the long ass wait but you know how depressive ruts be,,,,,, also happy birthday!!!! 🎂 this is crimdimas character eidel, as she appears in fire emblem. she's a spear fighter who uses a character-specific weapon called Gungnir. she comes from a world that's been all but driven to extinction. originally, she was killed and left in the wasteland of her old world, but the very man who killed her resurrected her to help him right his wrongs. she's a pretty emotional character ;v;
