“SAGESSE (WISDOM)”

Using art “as a way to give a social and humanist message” Spear splits his work between inside and outside and his time between working at home in Brussels and traveling the world. Spear says his travels help expand his awareness of different social realities, lifestyles, and values. When traveling he says his outdoor work serves as an icebreaker and allows him to create meaningful relationships with locals, and in turn the lessons of the road breed inspiration for his work back home. Spear says he is fascinated by the techniques and powers of narration of the old masters—evident in this 2015 work on Rue de Namur in Brussels. This wall was organized and supported by Propaganza, a Belgian collective of about 20 artists with diverse specialties and styles. @spear_paintings @propaganza_urban_artists
