@spearpearson;
With the recent events going on at Northlake and his mom taking on more responsibility at work, the Gardners had a family discussion and thought it’d be best for Peyton to get a babysitter -- since neither Bellamy nor the neighbors that often look after her could always be relied on what with their own responsibilities. Bellamy occasionally had obligations that would keep him at school like projects or tutoring, and sometimes just plain ol’ hanging out with friends. While his mom likes to ensure he spends ample time with his little sister, she also doesn’t want to keep him from living his own life and enjoying his last year of high school -- in a new town no less, which is one of the reasons she’s being so giving. Peyton argues that she can take care of herself but she didn’t seem opposed to the idea of someone different looking after her, so babysitter it was. And Bellamy knows just to consult about that too. Or he thinks. He’s heard around and he hopes this person isn’t too busy to take on caring for his little sister.
Spotting her on campus, Bellamy walks over -- albeit a little awkwardly since he doesn’t know her too well -- before going, “Hey. Um, Rowan, right? I’m Bellamy. The new kid.” Sort of new? There’s a lot of new kids this year it seems, so that might not be the best way to describe himself. “Um, anyway, I’m kind of new is all I mean,” he explains in a shy mumble, feeling super self-conscious with what he’s about to ask her. “Anyway, um, I heard you kind of babysit a lot? Like from neighbors with their kids and stuff. And I was wondering if maybe you, I dunno, had time for one more?” Is this how people normally hired babysitters? “Like just sometimes. Not all the time. Like maybe you could tell me what days you have available or something and I’ll see if it meets up with ours and like-- yeah. Sorry,” he says after a moment, looking down at his feet, an evident blush to his cheeks. “I don’t really know how to do this but I’m basically hoping for your help.” He smiles at her a little sheepishly.
