After reading this little suspension info in the 98 Legacy dealers brochure explaining how the rear lateral links actually steer the rear end and looking at Impreza Spec C parts, I've decided to switch my WRX rear links for Cusco's steel non-adjustable hybrid pillowball rear links on the 98 LGT.
STI vs Spec C w/pillow ball bushings
VS Cusco links w/hybrid pillow ball bushings
Part numbers:
672484 LC (rear)
666484 LA (forward)
The rear position even comes with new upgraded spherical/adjustable sway bar links
This should drastically improve the control of this wagon's rear end when taking turns or sudden evasive maneuvers when coupled with the Whiteline heavy duty 3-way adjustable bar and HD mounts.
Here's my current setup with 04 WRX links for more comparison. Another reason for this swap (also why I didn't go with the STI aluminum for the rear position) is because the aluminum links are prone to snapping/breaking vs the steel links will just get bent.
Just for the fun of comparing parts, here are WRX links with the Whiteline bushings I installed but didn't put on the car next to the OEM bushings. I was worried this would've given me a less control and understeer.
But if you were looking for weight savings then go with the aluminum links and Whiteline bushings since they are significantly lighter!
