Pop music was described in a recent Guardian article as likely to be dominated by ‘effortlessly interesting and inexplicably cool Scandinavian women’, listing a new crop of incredible Nordic female musicians, such as Marlene and Zara Larsson. Another super-cool artist on The Guardian’s list was Ji Nilsson. It feels like she has been teasing us for a while, drip-feeding stunning singles and collaborations (such as ‘Heartbreakfree’ and ‘Love You Anyway’ with Marlene), but last week she released her debut EP, 'Blue Is The Saddest Colour'. The EP shows off Ji’s unique sound - R&B infused Pop inspired by the ocean. Ji's lyrics really connect on an emotional level, as she opens up about her heartbreak, fragility and the desire to be loved. It's a gorgeous collection of songs.
