Tonight I asked my queer teenage daughter, "You know how in shows people say things like, 'Well, like my mother always told me...?' What would you say if you had to say that about me?"
"Oh! That's a good question," she said and then settled into her serious face and delivered the following:

Trying to figure out my super unique kid and all her special needs. Figuring out her being autistic. Figuring out realizing I am also autistic. Figuring out diet changes and exercise to lose weight for general health and possible future babies. Need to make a plan for small child after EI abandons us- become amazing home school teacher? Let child just wander our house and entertain herself like feral wolf child in lazy version of natural parenting? Fight to send to public school part time? Send to school full time? Send to private school and say goodbye to all money? All the therapy? Some therapy? No therapy? Trans thoughts! Trans + broody= double confusing. Breastfeeding??? 😧 Worry about marriage. Want brownie. Can’t have a brownie, diet.
Am I done yet? Done done done done done la la la la la Dragon Age. Escapism understands. Escapism doesn’t ask any questions. Except maybe how much fun do you want to have and which imaginary universe do you want to have it in. I’m going to be a cloud of steam that thinks about magic. That’s my gender right now.

Literal child is literal. And he's not wrong. That's the answer to the question exactly as it's worded. Homeschooling Dragon has really highlighted for me how much the wording of each and every question is SO IMPORTANT.
Raising a Warlord Prince, #I lost track
Yesterday: The child had the very beginnings of a loose tooth. He showed another member of the Court (who works in the dental field), and was told the tooth had at least 2 weeks before it was coming out. Today: He spent all day working on it, and it was much looser, but still firmly in his mouth. He asked us to pull it out for him. His father explained that pulling teeth out without anesthesia has long been used as a torture technique, and no, we weren't going to do that. 10 minutes ago: He walked in, handed me his tooth, and said, "Please put this with the others*." And walked out. Determined child is determined. His father's comment, "You really have to admire his commitment." *I keep all his baby teeth.
Speak to him like he's a kindergartner with a 9th grade education.
