Question to those who headcanon/theorise Eelai to be Kaos’ mother, what kind of mother do you headcanon her to be? She didn’t appear in any flashbacks so it’s up to our imagination and deduction.
Questions about how the Watcher's possesion works
I understand you need to have a telepresence chip for the Watcher to control you and that it's physicaly unplesant (not clear if it's more tiring or painfull) for the controlled to say the least.
Does the possesed know what's going on? Can they hear? Do they remember?
I think they don't... but is it a set rule or can the controlled train themselves to remember? Does the Watcher choose if the controlled will be contious or not?
Can the Watcher control more than one body at a time? Can he control his own body while "riding" someone else?
Does his own body in Zalem just go limp when he's controling someone?
How many watchers are there? We only see one in the movie, but Vector said "There are watchers behind the eyes all over the city". "Watchers" - plural. That means there are multiple.
Is being a watcher a job or a private leisure? Are there both proffesional watchers and amateur watchers who do it as a hobby? If so, which category does Nova fall into?
Can any average Zalemite become a watcher or is it reserved only for Zalem's elite? What are the minimum requirements to become a watcher?
Is there some kind of special cyber-enhancements only watchers have that let them take over others? Or is there a sort of device that any neurological cyborg could plug into and (for as long as they're connected) become a watcher?
Do the eyes of the possesed turn a different colour depending on which watcher is taking over them? Are there watchers who take over people without making their eyes glow?
I still have more questions...
How many Nove are there left? What will happen to them?
A bunch of spoilers under read more.
Do you think the people in the Ouroboros program are NPCs generated based on Alita and Nova’s memories or are they “played” by the minds of Nova’s experimental subjects? Probably the first. Then again putting his victims in a simulation of something that is almost like the life they used to have but obviously fake with the additional enforced rule that they’re unable to directly harm Nova or acknowledge him as the god of this false reality… doesn’t feel entirely out of character for him.
The more important, character wise, question is Ido. We know Nova made a backup of what Ido wiped out of his memory and kept it with him into late Last Order. It’s very likely he made a copy of the whole chip.
If he does have a full copy of Ido’s brainchip, why wouldn’t he use that as the Ido in Ouroborus for maximum realism.
Look at how devastated he is when the Ouroboros ends. Yes, he could be freaking out that he’s about to die or mourning a fake wholesome relationship with Alita. Or he could be mourning Ido. Notice how Ido is the last part of the ilusion to vanish.
Imagine the implications.
When Alita said goodbye to that simulated Ido, he was closer to the Ido she knew than the real Ido who was living with Kayna.
When Alita killed the simulated Ido in hopes of ending the nightmare, she didn’t do it to the hitbox assigned to a group of voxels that look like Ido, she did it to a version of Ido.
When Nova was playing house with the simulated Ido, he wasn’t playing out his selfshipping fantasies on character.ai, he was holding hostage a version of the man he got attached to.
Imagine what that Ido would think and feel when he realised he’s not real but the two people closest to him are. Would it change the way he behaves? Would he even know? How much control and awareness did Nova allow him to have? We know he had some autonomy because one of the first things he did was kick Nova in the face. How much of his memory did Nova allow him to have?
Or is it a fake Ido created based on Nova and Alita’s memories, because despite having access to a model as accurate as they get, he’d rather create a new one to use as a prop because he knew the real one would reject him?
Does Eelai get periods?
You know your life is off track when this is the kind of question that comes to your mind.
Anyway, my theory is that the layer of the endometrium lining that would have been shed during periods gets treated as waste and removed during regeneration baths. So on the day where her period should start Eelai gets in that bath and effectively presses the skip button on her period.
That is assuming she didn’t alter her reproductive system in any major way with nanobots, which she might have done.
I'm assuming Zalemites don't have periods at all since they're meant to all be sterile. So either genetic infertility or hysterectomy? I'm leaning towards the genetic infertility. Seemes easier since everyone in Zalem is already a lab designer baby.
Pets in Zalem
In LO volume 2, Marge mentioned that she had a cat even dogs were afraid of. This proves that there are animals on Zalem.
Do those animals reproduce like they do now, or are they genetically engeneered like their owners?
“Oh hell. I’m dead. I can’t believe I actually broke it....”
