I had so much fun judging the speech competition in Garrison today! I did it before in Montana, and was very into acting in my teens/20s. So I was thrilled to help out! And just like last time I did this, I was so blown away by the heart these kids bring to their performance - and the talent some have! At some point I heard a contestant in the next room scream, “I don’t wanna die!” And I had to grin. I just love that theatre kid energy most of the students bring! I ended up judging dramatic interpretation and humorous duo. It’s easier to judge the former but more fun to watch the latter. I got to see a duo acting as a cat and a dog, a duo acting as a walnut and a banana, and a duo acting as a warring husband and wife - all SO funny! The arts are historically underfunded/under-supported. So if you have the time, head over to your local HS and see if they need help with things like judging speech! These kids can be so passionate about their love for theatre and at times they have almost no one to support them. If you can - be that person 😊 🎭 #outhereontheprairie #supportthearts #speech #speechjudge #speechcompetition #supportyourschools (at Garrison, North Dakota) https://www.instagram.com/p/CMGj6kAAdiP/?igshid=1cc16p1rpxcxp
