Hi! I don’t know anything about biology (I’m a physics major, I’m so terrible at biology) but I’m just starting to learn Norwegian! Are you studying it in school, or are you Norwegian, or both? Unfortunately my university doesn’t have a Norwegian language credit so I’m taking German for my foreign language req, but I would like to learn Norwegian as well

I’m not Norwegian nor am I studying it in school, but I have been very casually on/off duolingo for ~2 years lol. I’m also going to school in Norway next semester! imo it’s fairly easy to learn (compared to French at least) so I would say go for it! I will say about duolingo tho, it’s helpful to try and understand the grammar and rules for ending nouns or for articles (e.g. in norwegian instead of saying “the cat” - “den katt” you would instead say “katten”- the ‘the’ is added as a suffix). if you check my norwegian tag it has some really good resources to utilize if you wanna start learning :)

oh man I haven’t read the books in a long time but I remember liking them a lot and thinking the show was...... not so good........ but ur making me want to give the show another try, maybe it was just casting choices that I didn’t like or something 🤔

Okay three things

1. Take everything I say with a grain of salt bc while Jace and Clary hold a special place in my heart as “first characters I ever heavily projected my personality on,” i do NOT like the books. I looooove the infernal devices but I don’t think TMI is anywhere near as well written so if you like the books.....maybe I’m not the best judge.

2. The casting choices IMO are INSPIRED akskdjd I will admit that some of the acting in the beginning is cheesy and overdone (most notably Clary, Raphael, Camille, and Jocelyn) but they get SO MUCH BETTER and for what she lacks in acting skills, Kat McNamara makes up for it with natural chemistry with her costars in spades and that’s just not something you can learn. I’d say give the casting a second chance.

3. I think if you, like me, have some teenage nostalgia for the series, and really enjoyed the world building but we’re frequently annoyed with weird plot choices OR if you dislike Cassie Claire for any reason, you will definitely like the show for the campy fun times it is. If you loved the books but also don’t mind when adaptations change stuff around while keeping to the same general plot beats, you’ll like it and it’ll keep you a bit on your toes. If you’re a book purist, I can guarantee you’ll hate the show.

I know I said three points but point the fourth - thank you ☺️☺️ I’m only like halfway thru s2 and so far I think s1 was a lot better, but despite some issues I’m still really enjoying s2. It’s cheesy. It’s fun. It’s got hot people. It whole heartedly and sincerely believes in the redeeming power of love. I think it’s worth a watch.
