There's this person that I know- my boyfriend's abuser. They are fictionkin and they self-diagnosed themself with all the mental disorders the headcanon their kin to have. It just really frustrates me that this person thinks that they can act like an asshole to people just because they are self-diagnosed with personality disorders and autism. And they always pull the "ableist" card whenever anyone calls them out for their abuse.. and they aren't disabled. All fictionkin aren't like this, right?

No, not all fictionkin are like that. I’d like to say the vast minority are like that, since it definitely sounds like they’re from Tumblr, and the majority of (real) fictionkin avoid this shitty website like the plague. 

Self-diagnosing is bullshit. Self-advocacy (saying “I might have this, but I cannot say for sure without a professional diagnosis”) is important, but taking to too far and insisting you have a mental (or physical!) illness when you are not a professional is so unhealthy and unsafe, for you and the others around you. 

Having a spiritual belief or having a mental illness does not excuse you from shitty behavior. That’s just a shitty way to get out of being held responsible for your actions. I wish there was some way I could help with that, but only time will tell with that person. I’ve known many people who go through the Tumblr stages of other/fictionkin - they seem to be going through it pretty bad at the moment. 

You see this a lot in the younger crowd because at around 14-17 there’s a lot of development going on, and a lot of hormones making everything super confusing. They want to fit in, but with all that shit going on in their head, they can’t quite make connections with other people in real life - so they turn to the people they know online. Once these kids got a hold of our spiritual/psychological beliefs, they kind of ran with it and turned it into this shit show where “being kin is only for mentally ill kids uwu” or “if you don’t like kin you’re ableist because it’s our delusions uwu” or “my pronouns are pawself like a dog because i’m dogkin!!” 

Like, that was a real thing going on! It’s slowed down significantly within the past year, I think, but there’s still a lot of people (not just teens, but adults in their 20′s as well) who do this kind of stuff. It’s really sad, and when they start hurting other people it’s even worse. 

I want to make this clear: BEING OTHERKIN AND/OR HAVING A MENTAL ILLNESS DOES NOT EXCUSE ANYONE FROM BEING A SHITTY PERSON.

You have to realize what you have done to hurt another person (or people), apologize, and work to not do it again. This shit isn’t a get-out-of-jail-free card. 

I’m really sorry you’ve had to deal with someone like that. If possible, you can try to send them my way and I’ll see if I can talk some sense into them?

You don’t have to believe fictionkin are real - we exist anyways, but it’s a spiritual or psychological belief. You really don’t have to be involved in it! 

Tumblr has fucked up otherkin and fictionkin in a massive way, honestly. Fictionkin have been around... oh, I’d say only slightly shorter than otherkin. We originally started as an emailing list for Elves from the Tolkien ‘verse. We don’t try to claim ownership over whatever canon we come from (or at least, we shouldn’t - if you see someone doing that, send them my way, please!)

Here’s how I see it personally: there is a multiverse. There is a universe for everything. In one of those universes, I lived a life that was almost identical to that of Luke Skywalker. It sounds crazy! Absolute bonkers. I totally get that. But I have memories of that life. I have reminders of that one in this life now as well! But now I’m someone else, and I’m living a different life. I will always be connected to life as Luke, but there’s more to existence than just who I used to be. I don’t own Star Wars. I don’t have anything to do with its creative process. Luke Skywalker is the property of Disney and George Lucas. I don’t have any say in how Luke Skywalker is written (unless I do end up working for Disney one day which is... the dream, honestly) nor do I want that, necessarily? My life as Luke isn’t the life that we see here. I was... different from the Luke shown in canon. 

Eh, I don’t think you care too much about that, so I won’t get too into it. Long story short, I don’t really care about being “the Real Luke” because... that’s not important? I had a life that was eerily similar to that of Luke Skywalker. I went by the same name, did most of the same stuff, then died. I’m now someone different. This life is more important because that’s what’s going on now.

Okay this is getting really long, I’m super sorry about that! Anyways, it’s fine if you don’t believe in this stuff. It’s totally understandable, and you’re not the first one to be uncomfortable with it. As long as we respect each other, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem, yes?

i know this blog is not about e/reri but i did see a post about it; i just wanna say i am heavily bothered by that shipping because like?? eren is a minor and like half levi's age?? yikes?? but for some reason so many people in the fandom love it, as well as some of my younger friends and it just really bothers me. I have it blacklisted but I still end up seeing it.

Ere/ri fuckiinngg gross and we hate it, dont worry you arent alone its pedophilic and we hate every single pedophilic ship here, you definetely arent alone!!! Try and blacklist it and unfollow shippers and try and keep yourself safe, but unfortunately its hard to avoid these types of things :/
