The wound indeed looked like a scratch, but was anything but. Because of Sonic’s reckless running, he got himself pricked from the tail of a not so friendly creature’s stinger, right on his leg.

@speedy-lightofhope “Hohohohohohoho!” Eggman gave out an evil laugh, before pointing at the taller sonic in disgust. “I may have lost to you before, but this time I won’t let you escape alive, Sonic!” His mind wandered back to the first meeting with this future sonic, back with the “time eater”. It was a humiliating defeat, and one he wouldn’t allow to happen again. “I’ve studied my future self’s plans, and worked out some of the bugs in them! This time, I will surely defeat...you?” His cocky demeanor was replaced with a sense of confusion and, oddly, concern. Sonic seemed...down. “Hey. Are you even listening? Yer supposed to be angry, not sad!”

Usually, Shadow disliked body contact with others, he tried to avoid it as often as possible and only a selected few were even allowed to touch him. But he could not watch the blue hog cry. It set off something inside of him, though he wasn’t quite sure what. He just had the sudden urge to protect him, from others, from the world, no matter what. He’d protect Sonic.

`` Don’t smile, not for me. Cry as much as you want to, don’t keep it inside like this. `` It was rare to hear Shadow talking so soothingly and calming, a very rare gift indeed.. The only thing he could do is do what Maria had taught him all those years ago, to embrace Sonic softly and stroke his head. `` They will not hurt you, not anymore. I’m here. ``

His glare really was as if he was looking right through this ugly smiling facade of his. Shadow knew it all too well, though his mask was different. The hedgehog knew exactly that Sonic had a heavy burden to carry, and thus couldn’t believe he went through life with a smile, and without anything bothering him the least.

`` Drop the act, tell me why you couldn’t sleep. ``

For sure Shadow was more persistent than other people who would just take Sonic’s word for it. But no, not this hedgehog.

For a while, she had been wandering alone until the latter presence decided to come around. The company wasn’t unwelcomed though, still, Meena had eventually that something felt wrong.

Teal eyes were pointed towards the hedgehog. ‘’Its the sights, isn’t it?’’, war, battles may be over, the good won but ruins rested almost everywhere. This was still a pretty saddening view. All that destruction, didn’t appeared to reconfort anybody yet.
