Zane yap + art incoming.

Ok so I have this idea that when Zane got rebuilt in season 3 he was rebuilt as a Borg android that is a entirely different model than his father originally made him to be.

The Borg androids where designed with antennas and chunkier limbs (old art for reference (the wings are not a Borg design))

When Zane wakes up on Chens island he doesn’t remember who he is at first right? But in my mind he still feels some sort of loss of his old body. He is just uncomfortable with the body he woke up in and he doesn’t know why.

When he remembers he becomes more aware of this feeling because now he remembers being “human” more clearly.

He remembers how his body should feel and why his current body feels so wrong to him. His limbs are to big and are hard to maneuver compared to his previous limbs. His antennas pick up every single sound and he hates how they sometimes slightly brush against his head.

He feels like this during all of season 4 but can focus on trying to save the ninjago. But as things calm down it starts to take its toll on him. Pixal tries to help, trying to get him to talk to the other ninja, but theres only so much one can do when stuck in someone’s head. She feels a bit lost not only because she physically cant help but also because she struggles to see the problem ,i mean she understands why zane is feeling this way but she also doesn’t? Like on a emotional level she understands it but not on a logical level. She struggles to comprehend how Zane cant see anything positive with his new body.

This all comes to a boiling point where Zane essentially has a break down of sorts where he breaks his antennas off (it doesn’t really hurt him). After this he finally goes to his friends for help. (or they find and help him)

Nya and Jay build new limbs and switches the his limbs for the newly made ones. The limbs are darker than the rest if his body and definitely not at advanced as his previous limbs but they work well for the work they do and the look more like his first body (they kinda just looks like black prosthetics and begins at the knees and elbows). This makes him feel a lot more comfortable in his own body.

Inspire

This whole "Chao Legacy" thing started out as somewhat of an inside thing with my close friend/mentor, Andy Qin. but as the weekend at State Quals played out, I began to realize how it was so much more than what it seemed at first...

The big event for my speech and debate tournament was my OO (Original Oratory), and I worked my ass off in perfecting and polishing it. After the preliminary rounds, my work paid off with a rank of 2, 2, and 2 (out of 7 in each round, which is actually really good, though not a 1). So honestly, I was actually doing hot, and i ended the day with a huge amount of satisfaction at the work that I've done in order to continue on to semi-finals. By the next day, however, my luck ran out when I choked hard in the semi-final round for OO. My introduction was weak, and soft-spoken, and when I skipped a huge part of my speech in the beginning, I tried desperately to go back and fix it but to no avail; it was too late. My judges had already seen my slip up, and I was the only one in my semis round that fucked up so badly... Needless to say, i ended up not qualifying for finals, and on top of that, State. (I also double broke in my OPP, but really, I didn't care much for that. It was mainly my OO)

At the time, I was beyond devastated at how I fucked up in my semis round, because I knew that I could have done a lot better, due to my previous preliminary rounds. If it weren't for my choke in the beginning, I'm almost positive I could have made it to finals, and eventually get a better chance at qualifying to state. And that really bothered me. I could have been fine knowing that I tried my best, and it wasn't enough. But I knew that I didn't try my best...

And so after two hours of pitiful sulking, I went to awards ceremony, and that's when i began to realize, things weren't so bad. I mean, I almost cried at how happy I was for all the Arcadians that final'ed, and are now going on to State Champs (and also the ones that were almost there). And then I realized that it really wasn't about me individually; it was more about the team itself, and how we need to continuously encourage others to do their best, while forgetting about our sadness.

But no, this story isn't some cliche team moral, of how there's no "I" in team or some shit. Ironically, it's about me... Hahaha.

This whole time, "chao Legacy" was meant for me to carry on the mantle of Ray Chao, and the Ray Chow before him (there were two Ray's with the same pronunciation of "Chao" on the team...). And I thought that since my last name was Chao, it would have been fitting for me to "carry it on". And the thing is, the last thing that Ray Chao said to me in the speech environment (through tears, both mine and his), was "carry it on". And I already went over how he had inspired me so much in my previous post (a year ago), and what he said meant a lot to me. As a result, I was fixated on the whole idea of continuing this "Chao Legacy". But at the end of today, I started to ask myself, "what did the Chao Legacy really mean?"

"Chao Legacy" was the legacy that Ray had left on me. It wasn't the great accomplishments that he achieved or what he had done in the speech and debate realm. It was more of the fact that he inspired me.

The legacy that I was so intent on carrying on was the legacy of inspiring people, and at the end of the day, that's all I had wanted to do. I want to leave high school feeling that I inspired people, to pass on my knowledge and information, and to feel as if I were appreciated and valuable in my peers' lives.

(I really don't know if I really did inspire people, but it's nice to know what the "Chao Legacy" really meant to me)

And although my chances of State Quals are lost, I have a chance to redeem myself, and continue this Chao Legacy at National Quals (which is even tougher than State Quals...), and hopefully, I can inspire people; all the people who didn't win a trophy, a medal, or a single ribbon, because I was in their shoes last year, and I never gave up, and I continued to not let my failures deter me, and I will never give up.

And I want to inspire people to do the same.
