First night alone with the kids
Sort of. I was alone both nights in the hospital though so I did get a little prep in, and this won’t be much different since Spencer almost never wakes up at night.
I’m handling getting no sleep way better than I did with Spencer for some reason, too. Maybe Michael and I are just tag-teaming better. Or maybe it’s because we’ve done it before so we know what to expect. Brandon also sleeps for longer periods than Spencer did. I think it’s because he doesn’t have a tongue-tie, so he gets a better, more effective latch and really gets full. Spencer ate for shorter amounts of time, probably because it was too much work. So he’d wake up more frequently to eat.
Either way, Brandon’s asleep right now; he fell asleep on Michael about an hour ago, and I know I should be trying to sleep but it’s only 10:00. So I’m up and about getting all the damn clean laundry that’s piled up put away.
Michael just left for work. This is gonna be my first night alone with both of the kids. He didn’t work overnights with Spencer so he was always home through the night. So this is kinda weird. Thankfully, since he took off a few days after Brandon was born it’s just the one night this week. So I’ll get a tester before I have to go all out next week for four days.
But Michael finally got a department transfer and now he’ll just be working late as opposed to all night. I am gonna have an issue with figuring out walking the dogs in the evening though. Obviously I can wear Brandon in the Moby or Ergo but I can’t hold onto Spencer and two 40 pound dogs and be able to pick up poop if I need to. Dinner and Spencer’s bath time will be easy enough with baby wearing and the swing or bouncer. The dogs are honestly my biggest concern with figuring out a good system for that. Maybe I’ll wear Brandon, put Spencer in the crappy umbrella stroller, and take one dog at a time? That sounds like the easiest option, but the dogs like going together, blahhh.
