Luv the line choice(: Who do u think has the most complex fic writing style. I mean who do u admire most for something they've done?
NightsLightss I gotta be honest with you—spheeris1 was a close second (you can read my recent praise for her writing here: http://vausemania.tumblr.com/post/150304293940/fanfic-author-recommendation-spheeris1), but I’m still /stunned/ by how NightsLightss was able to create a beautifully-written, complex, and completely-plausible Vauseman-as-Hades-&-Persephone AU story after a prompt. This is just one example of her talent, but since I’m a lazy so-and-so, here’s my tumblr review for her series of one-shots, “New Romantics” (which I posted in an ‘ask’ reply earlier this year). Oh, and chapter 25 is the Vauseman-as-Hades-and-Persephone AU story: This collection of beautifully-written and highly-imaginative Vauseman AU scenarios, written by a wildly-talented author, run the gamut from adolescent Vauseman to adult Vauseman, all in various settings…a real accomplishment, given the constraints of fanfic, with its insistence on adherence to canon characterization. In other words, NightsLightss somehow manages to show us a richly-described alternate universe Vauseman that is still entirely in-character. No small feat…and it’s beautifully done with elegant, delicate prose, and a talent for combining achingly romantic passages, memorably poignant moments, and some of the most delicious Vauseman sex scenes out there. As I wrote in one of my reviews:
The dialogue that could be canon, the witty, sweet banter, the sentimentality laced with reality, those intimate moments shared between lovers—-we see them all in your fics…and they fit in perfectly with how I view Alex and Piper together, no matter the time, the place or the circumstance. That is the beauty of your fanfics.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Re: the line-that-made-me-cry–thanks :) It wasn’t easy to pick (someone asked me what fics made me cry a while back and there were a lot lol) but that line got to me to the most.
Fanfic author recommendation - spheeris1
Ok, so I was going through my list of favourite Vauseman fanfics on Fanfiction.net (I post there as “Vausemaniac”) and noticed an author whose name I haven’t been trumpeting too much, probably because we haven’t seen any new stuff posted since last August. She’s one of the most talented (if not *the* most talented) ff author imo, though, so I’m here to shine a spotlight on her work :) I’m talking about spheeris1. Her story 1957 and its follow-up 1967 are classics but my personal favourite is maybe you’ve been wrong all along and its companion piece entitled everything is going to be okay (currently only on archiveofourown.org here ) Also highly recommended is a hundred days of blindness (which goes a long way to explaining why our favourite OTP is so fucked up). I strongly recommend her writing; her prose is beautiful, delicate and poetic….and despite the angst, her stories are filled with hope and great insight into the characters of Alex and Piper.
Sequel to the 1957 ‘verse.
