Spiders have 7 different kinds of silk glands that produce different kinds of silk, each with a different purpose in web-building and navigation. Scientists have also concluded that the composition, design and pattern of a spider’s web may be affected by minute changes to the spinner’s body chemicals or due to changes in his environment due to airborne chemicals and pollutants or disease.
--Though Peter might not have silk glands biologically, he has been known to come up with many different formulas for his webbing, each new version serving an alternative purpose to the version before and like his arachnid kin, the actual design and pattern of his webs change as Peter undergo and experiences change. Mr Stark once noted that when Peter had the flu his webbing seemed to be slapdash and slovenly, a mugger almost wriggling free and jumping for an open cab window, before Peter managed to sluggishly pull him back by the ankles. Then there was the time where Ned managed to convince Peter that they had to watch all eight seasons of Game of Thrones in one sitting. The pair ended up drinking an ungodly amount of energy drinks to power through, almost resulting in cardiac arrest and Peter’s webbing being erratic in pattern and dangling from every nook and cranny of the compound for a solid two and a half weeks afterward.
