✗ SNAPSHOT ┅
A deposed half-princess once with a rich joyous childhood vanished to the underground maze. Molded by the Gutters, she became quietly lethal. Always hidden from view, burying her royal identity, it was behind screens where her fingers would sew exquisitely expensive things to occupy her time. Spider Strings’s survival depended on her weaponized hair. The strands turned fibers were strong, cutting like a knife. And just as flexible, the string like strands could manipulate flesh like a puppet. She became synonymous to spider, weaving and trapping by the tendrils of her own hair.

TW: abandonment, stillbirth, death
Duality was your nature, you became the moon when the sun rose. A shocking truth to the young innocent girl you once were. Where the brightest light shined strongest also brought forth the darkest shadows. Your childhood sanctuary was a humble abode, simple and sufficient, hardly comparable to the vastness of a palace but luxurious nevertheless. From your youth, you were taught poise and etiquette. Only activities that were deemed virtuous became your daily task. Your fingers trained to deftly sew the landscape you were so accustomed to seeing. Your work was made as gifts for your beautiful mother, a living jewel herself. You wondered as a child, if you would ever grow up to dress like her, speak like her and if your features would grow toward her likeness. She didn’t visit often but when she did, a royal little prince accompanied on rare occasions. You never quite put two and two together - assuming she was merely yet another governess to the little boy. The charade continued forth. Your caretakers held secrets, concealing any inquisitive questions by feeding your mind with half truths and clever lies. Blissful ignorance wrapped your upbringing, left to your own devices in a remote residence, it wasn’t until the light struck so brightly that the bubble burst. Reality exposed.
A strange air seeped into your life as the servants whispered, words that hardly reached your ears. But you saw their eyes, the curve of their lips - they knew something you didn’t. A looming feeling formed in the pits of your stomach, a sensation that unsettled you with fear. It was under the brisk dark sky when the servants fled, ensuing the arrival of a man dressed in black who rushed you out of bed and into the night. In your distress, only fragmented truths are spat, jumbled explanations. But the only clarity you could grasp was the illness that plagued the Queen. The ambiguity of your identity, the reason why you were concealed. Your life had long been at the whims of the King who believed your birth all too early. The truth of your existence hidden with the lie of stillborn death. Like pieces of a puzzle everything clicked. The reason your existence was kept hidden from the Emperor had been because your very being marred the King's regime. After all, he had not been the not the one who fathered you. At the edge of a tunnel, a man shoved a bag and paper into your hand, urging you to follow the map towards someone who could help you. The memory was vivid. You were a scared, confused little girl but it was the conviction of your voice that illuminated your surroundings. You asked him if he was your father. You were met with a weak smile and soft instruction to run. Go into the underground tunnel. Transform and survive.
The imagery repeated in your mind again and again. There was no other answer besides yes. He had to be, you willed it, looking back now you’re sure of it. But you also know that damning day he had made a choice. He had chosen to go back to the Queen, his love. He gave you a chance at life and yet you had failed on your own. Lost in the depths of the tunnels, failure was your first mentor. Through each struggle you survived and nurtured your strength. And yet you were swallowed by your own burdened esteem, reliving all your imperfections with utter agony. And so, you envy those protected from life’s defeats because you once were like that too. You yearned for your blindingly blissful sanctuary. Yet you couldn’t undo what was done. A noble no longer, you were forced to adapt behind closed curtains as you watch events unfold, biding your time in hopes of one more chance. You clung onto your own desperation, it was all your dignity allowed. After all, your blood tied you to the imperial royals. The future remained a haze, you know not what you want nor what you expect, all you desire is to come face to face and see if your strings will mar their skin or if it will set you free.

Meridian Tiger: In the wake of your new life you often looked back to the rosy times of your mother’s embrace. The faces of those times seem more vivid now than in the past and among them the small face of a fine clad boy walking hand in hand much the same way you walked with her. You wonder now why it took you so long to recognize yourself in him. A half brother with mother’s tender airs living under the cruelty of a man who would murder you were he aware of your existence. Both of you are victims of his cage though his fate mirrors your mother’s while your own lay in hiding. Perhaps your mother could not be saved, but you weave your lethal strings should he ever need you in his escape.
Zombie Rat: Wandering in the uncertainty of life beneath the limited surface you had come to know, you met a person you chose to cling to. Perhaps it was his disinterest or the way he walked away from you with such decisive silent steps that made you trust him. You followed and he did not forsake you. But he also did not coddle you. For that you are forever grateful because despite his apparent detachment he has always been there for you. By osmosis you picked up on his way of life and soon discovered the hidden part of his heart. You choose to nourish him in the best way you can, turning him into your mannequin so that others may see the man who unknowingly saved you in a good light.
Cinder Fox: She embodies the frivolity of a social class you could never be a part of. Your mother, had she not been taken with illness, would have kept you from it while your current life of evasion would forever deprive you of it. Sometimes you wonder if it is hate you feel towards her privileged upbringing or if it is jealousy that betrays your spirit. The precious gems, the flowing silks, and the impeccable embroidery of her skirts reminds you of the living jewel you worshipped in your childhood. You dreamed of being like your mother but now you hunch under the light of a lamp while you embellish fabrics for someone that is like her.
