This is a panel from the issue of Spider-Ben that I helped out on (@tozozozo and @jasonlatour were the real authors). For a while now, I’ve been wanting to recolor this panel closer to how I imagined it when I drew it. In the end, I think I might have taken it a little too far. I’m posting my Spiderben here because I tweeted it and my friends liked it but then a popular talented artist had their own version of a Spiderben (completely different, I’m not claiming they stole my idea) and it got way more traction and I’m bitter so here.

This came about because everyone was posting a Spider-sona after Into The Spiderverse came out, so i wanted to, too. I made a buff morally grey Spider-Man based off a tarantula.

The story is that Benjamin P. Parker was a mechanic and had to work late and came home to find his home had been robbed and his wife May and nephew Peter had been murdered. Fed up with the system and with no living family to turn to for support, he went rogue, tried to infiltrate a gang to get more info about his family’s murder, and ended up being the experiment of a lab messing with radiation and spiders. You know the rest.

He is stronger than your average Spider-Man but not as nimble and definitely needs he web shooters. He’s super durable and likes to super jump onto his enemies. Also has claws to climb walls instead of sticky fingers.

He leaves bad guys really hurt and has been known to off a few on his own, Justice be damned.

Also he’s bisexual and ends up dating his universe’s Black Cat (who turns out to be May’s long lost twin sister, out for revenge) for a while before ending up with Rhino (an old work buddy who left for pipeline work and ended up accidentally serving as muscle for the mafia but wants to go legit).

That time I got to work with @jasonlatour and @tozozozo, two of my favorite cartoonists currently working in comics. To be clear, Spidergeddon #3 (aka Spider-Ben) was thoroughly their baby. I just stepped in to help with things near the end. This is actually just some fan-art that I made after the issue came out. If you’re unfamiliar with Spider-Ben, track it down.
