How come you don't like Tralls?

The complete loss of bodily autonomy like that freaks me out and I don't like it. I typically steer clear from any media portraying it! Which sucks for my friends who keep trying to get me to read Brandon Sanderson's books lol.

If I ever did include thralls it might be different, or perhaps only some vampires are capable of doing something close to it. We'll see!

Jade: What are their opinions on luck? Do they believe in it?

Oh, for sure. Phoenix is pretty much still alive because he's lucky. Any injuries that he gets tend to be minor because they hit the spots that cause the least damage. He'll get the last of a drink/snack that he's been craving for weeks. He was in a spot in the building where he didn't burn to death. Lady Luck might as well be Phoenix's best friend and most intimate lover.

Opal: Are they the emotional sort?

He wasn't before Shadow Company and probably isn't for a long time after. But slowly, slowly, he starts to open up a bit. He'll cry over tv shows. Laugh at two squirrels chasing each other. Tell the people around him that he loves them more than anything in the world. Phoenix learns that life is too short to keep things to himself all the time.
