Apologies for no photo, but I have an inquiry regarding what to do about a firewood stowaway considering the outdoor temperatures! I found an oil beetle had hitched a ride indoors on some firewood and I'm unsure how to release it again so it would have a good chance since it is snowing here and not likely to be above freezing temperatures for two days. Would keeping it in a tiny terrarium with some soil for that time work, and then finding a good rotten log once it's warmer be good? Thank you!
As long as you put it somewhere sheltered, it doesn't really matter whether it's warm out or not. It'll either make it or it won't! In fact I would put it outdoors as soon as possible. It's very warm indoors and their bodies get confused about what season it is. Don't wanna waste precious energy when there's no food available! But yes a small terrarium with a light misting of water is fine in the meantime.
