Get into the Halloween spirit with these spooky spiderweb cookies! These delicious treats are perfect for parties and gatherings, and they're sure to impress both kids and adults.
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Black gel food coloring. 1/4 cup black royal icing. 1/4 cup white royal icing.
Instructions: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Divide the dough in half. Add black gel food coloring to one half, kneading until fully incorporated. Shape each dough half into a disc, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 1-2 hours. Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the black dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out round cookies using a cookie cutter. Using a smaller round cutter, cut out the centers of half of the cookies to create rings. Place the cookies on the baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once the cookies are cooled, use the black royal icing to create spiderweb designs on the solid cookies. Allow the black icing to set for a few minutes. Using the white royal icing, pipe small dots onto the spiderweb to resemble a spider. Let the icing fully set before serving.
