Where Do We Go? | Andy & Jaebum
submitted by: sxoulfragments
Jaebum had spent most of the day on his bed, arms at his side and legs sprawled out. He couldn’t even remember the last time he had gotten up. Somewhere in the back of his mind he thinks it was around ten am to get something for breakfast. His half eaten granola bar still rested on his night stand, he wasn’t even sure if he would finish it. Normally, Jaebum would be able to find something to blame this melancholy state even if it was unfairly done. But there wasn’t anything that he could complain about it.
Unless you counted the letter.
But that wasn’t something that needed to be complained about. God no. But he had read over the contents at least twelve times throughout the past few days and yet it still didn’t sink it. At least not until today. His best friend needed his help. Had needed help for God knows how long and Jaebum had just been going along without bothering to ask the important questions, expecting it to come out eventually. He could blame it on not wanting to push Andy—which was incredibly true. But there was something else, he had gotten complacent. It made him sick. That was worse than losing uncle Junghoon.
Around five o’clock in the afternoon he wipes off the spittle that had dried on his cheek some hours ago and sat up. What good was it going to do to sit around? He looks at the phone that has been at his side for the day and laughs dryly, he’s got a few messages from Harley asking about next weekend, he replies to her first. Then shoots a quick text messages to Andy, not trusting his voice to not give him away at the moment:
Hey man, you busy tonight? I miss your face and I may or may not need some hugs.
That would suffice. Or at least it would have to because he had already sent it. Falling back into his bed, he places the phone over his nose and closes his eyes again. He won’t sleep, but he always finds it to be a good way to clear his head as he thinks. He’d just have to wait for the response. Maybe look in his fridge and see if he had enough food for someone to actually come over or if they would be ordering again.
I got some spare hugs. I’ll drop by in a few I think I slept through work? Let me shower and I’ll be over in a while. Okay?
That message took forever mostly because of the fact Andy’s hands kept trembling. God what an awful day. Truthfully he needed a hug, or 10, or 90 but his mind was now focused on something else. Jaebum only asked for hugs when he was either absolutely wrecked or absolutely wasted. No time to lose.
Taking a shower was another prowess that needed be celebrated. On the plus side his fever had gone down so there was nothing to worry about there. Now to dress in whatever he found first. Ah, yes. Jaebum’s ripped jeans and his stripped long sleeve shirt over a tank top. He was probably going to take the over shirt off once he got there anyway. The day was hot enough as it is and in case his fever came back it wasn’t a wise idea to keep himself even hotter than needed. All he learned in biology about how bacteria thrived in hot environments made its way into his brain. Was he that desperate for a distraction? Yeah.
Good thing Nora was patient with him because it took him a few tries to properly get her into the carry bag. “I’m sorry. Uncle is a bit out of it.” He whispered before kissing her forehead. He kissed his babies goodbye before carefully scratching Pickle’s belly. “I’ll be back tomorrow probably.” He hollered out as he made his way out of his room.
The bus was a pain per usual. He would have just skated over but he was carrying precious cargo with him. Couldn’t risk his best friend’s daughter getting hurt. Nope. Once over at the building he made his way up before carefully taking Nora out into his arms. He knocked a few times, for once, and carefully held her up in front of his face. If anyone could cheer Jaebum up it could be her.
For now he needed to go in and breathe.
