He was at it again: Nathan had been spending far too much time in his office, engrossed in his own things. Sure, he still was a devoted father, but he was aware he'd been failing yet once again as a husband to Lacey, although to be technically correct (and he loved accuracy), they weren't married per se: they signed papers that stated otherwise months ago. He also knew Lacey had been noticing he was more absent than usual lately. However, there was just this one thing that had been keeping him very occupied and he needed it to be perfect.
It happened to be the weekend, fine sunny Sunday, and while the children were getting ready to go out, he was instead getting ready to go somewhere else. 'I think I'll make it to lunch, Lacey. If not, surely afternoon. The kids won't even notice it.'
