Happy 10 years of Spies everyone! Thought I’d make a sequel to Mini Mega (seen as we’re not getting one to saf anytime soon). Or a partner if you will. Under the cut is more photos (I had a bit of fun with the lighting and other stuff).

To many more years of loving these idiots!! Spies are Forever means so much to me and it’s been one of the most creatively inspiring pieces of media I’ve ever loved and this is just a fraction of it.

tried my hand at intarsia for the first time to celebrate spies day!

I did trace their faces off of a screenshot from the staircase scene, because doing intarsia portraiture you need to be able to instantly recognize the profile, and I'm not that good of an artist

Owen is cut from granadillo (hair), birch (skin), and purpleheart (jacket)

Curt is cut from wenge (hair and jacket), hard maple (skin), and padauk (red patch)

They are both finished with Odies oil

The lettering is reclaimed wood from a white oak drawer side, and the (totally obliterated) dresser it came from had a maker's mark of 1956, so that's a fun little piece of history!

The pieces were cut with a scroll saw, and fixed to a 12x12 baltic birch backer. I used Krylon clear glaze on the lettering and the backer, but the pictures are laughably bad at capturing how sparkly and shiny it is in person

do you think they ever imagined that this show would be so beloved? that ten years later there would still be an active fanbase creating art and fics and edits, writing theory posts and making gifs?

It's hard to put into words what Spies are Forever has meant to me. Before I got into this show, I hadn't written anything seriously in years. I had totally lost the love I had for writing, wrote it off as impossible due to the adhd. But I've written tens of thousands of words (probably much more than that, if I'm honest) about this show, either via theory posts or fanfiction

This show inspired me to start teaching myself art, to learn to make gifs and edits. It's inspired me at woodworking, when the creative joy of that had sorta died out for me too

While saf makes me almost unbearably sad sometimes, it also brings me a huge amount of joy. It's given me a community full of funny, creative, insightful people to share this interest with

I'm grateful to every wonderfully talented person who made this show happen, to the people who funded it, and to the people who kept this fandom alive before me
