hey i was thinking about IT today and i always always go back to your sky high au fic because it's one of my favorite things in this fandom!!!! i've read it multiple times, i love it so much! anyway what inspired you to do that?

Actually I might’ve mentioned this before but ngl the the idea kinda started out with a joke? At the time I was writing it ppl were like talking abt their superhero/superpower aus—which I like, for the record! There are superpower aus I definitely enjoy! But as a half joke I was like “the powers they’re giving the losers are way too cool, let’s be honest, if Eddie was real he’d be the person in sky high who turns into a guinea pig” & bc in a dumbass, I got over invested bc Zach the kid who glows from sky high gives off Richie vibes. I actually like those two even tho their romance subplot is kinda contrived. And the fact that being a sidekick is gay-coded.... Will has a coming out scene basically.... + I just like sky high as a movie so I got invested in the idea as a fully fledged au, and so that’s that!

So u guys know how nobody knows where Fez is from, but he's spoken Spanish in the show? (like when he sang "bésame mucho" to Jackie... I think? Can't really remember) Anyway. As we know, Fez says "Ai" a lot... Only that, he doesn't. Assuming that he speaks Spanish (or at least the actor who plays him does); it isn't "Ai", it's "Ay". That's a Spanish word for "oh" and so on, as applied by Fez. Just wanted to clear that up, cuz as Spanish as my mother tongue, the misspelling just kinda annoys me

Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Fez in the show, is latino and that’s why Fez sings in spanish and probably why he says “ay” a lot. The character itself says he isn’t latino, that he comes from an island that is never mentioned, is supposed to be part of the charm of the show.

As a latina myself, I can tell you what it actually is: racism. Fez “mysterious” origin is a joke, it was always a joke, and we have no choice but to accept it or try and fix it in fanfics. 

But yeah, Fez ain’t latino, his actor is. And no, no one knows where Fez is from.
