Hugh and Siebold // Get Ready to Meet Your Baker
Siebold glanced miserably out of the rain-spattered window, before turning back to the table, anxiously straightening out the forks and knives splayed out across the clean white tablecloth. No-one was queued outside, begging for any table going – infact, for the third time in a row, the reservation book was completely empty, and Sie sighed in frustration as he polished yet another wine glass, biding the time until it was time to close down for the night. The clamperl at the front of house tapped on the glass of her fishbowl, eyeing Sie from the side of the restaurant with a sorrowful look, making soft chirrups that turned into bubbles as they floated to the surface.
The trainer frowned, focusing hard on shining the glass as if his reputation depended on it. “I’m sure things will pick up soon, Mon Cherie.” He murmured, half to the water pokémon, and half to himself. With the expensive prices the restaurant boasted, it was unlikely that anything would pick up soon, except overhanging debts, and perhaps the luck of the stray poochyena and linoone that snacked on his leftovers. In strong denial, Sie kept the ovens and grill burning through the night, cooking occasionally to feel his clamperl, which no doubt was a waste of the island’s precious electricity.
Sie’s eyes suddenly widened as he heard a knock at the door, and he placed the glass down slowly, striding towards the heavy wooden thing, casting an excited look at Kira as he passed her. The sound of the downpour amplified as he opened the door, revealing a blue-haired trainer who was soaked to the skin, a nervous grin on his face.
“...Hello…Sir. Welcome to The Good Companion,” Siebold began, racking his brains to remember the trainer’s name – he’d seen him a couple times since arriving in Nocturne, but had forgotten to ask prior to now . “…Do you have a reservation…?” He murmured, cocking an eyebrow at the trainer, who was pressed towards the door to keep out of the rain. His normally spiky hair was flattened against his head, and Sie mouth upturned slightly in amusement at him.
