002 Laura Roslin? Thanks! 😊

002 | Give me a character & I will tell you

How I feel about this character: I love her so much.  

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Laura Roslin/Bill Adama is OTP (but I always thought one could probably write some interesting Roslin/Zarek content)

My non-romantic OTP for this character: I’ve always enjoyed her dynamic with Lee Adama.  From the miniseries, Lee was the first one to show her respect and I think Roslin recognizes things in him that others don’t.  

My unpopular opinion about this character: I don’t think Roslin is Madam Airlock in spite of her backstory of being a teacher. I think that background is a huge part of what makes her decisive and ruthless.   Teachers have to make quick decisions constantly but they also have to show absolute commitment/certainly/willingness to follow through. You can’t hesitate. You can’t threaten and then not follow through.  

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:  I didn’t want her to die, despite knowing the narrative structure demanded it.

my OTP: Roslin/Adama

my cross over ship: None.   I do have a soft spot for crossovers with Voyager though, where Roslin and Janeway become friends (and maybe Roslin helps Janeway get over her obsession with parameters and boundaries). 

a headcanon fact: She wrote letters for Adama to find/read after she was gone. She knew he was going to have a hard time losing her, and she didn’t want him to feel so alone/fall back into the closed down angry place he was before.   Sometimes when he reads them he can’t help wondering how she knew exactly how he was going to react to something she wrote.   (Also, they included the advice “Fracking go find your son, Bill.  I mean really.”)

2. What is the stupidest way you have ever gotten hurt? Oh buddy haha. I was bringing in a bag of groceries and I tripped on the sidewalk. Instead of letting go of the bag to catch myself, I held on and smashed my thumb into the sidewalk. End result: two pins and four sutures.

17. What is a song that takes you back to childhood? Honestly, the first Harry Potter soundtrack, especially Leaving Hogwarts. I remember seeing it as a kid with my folks and just being blown away. And then just growing up with Harry Potter. The books, the movies, the real-life friendships, and one particularly brutal argument over Ron vs McGonagall. (;

-I used to be absolutely terrified of elevators, but I think I’m slowly growing out of that. I’m still irrationally afraid of holy water though.....

Meg found herself in an unfamiliar part of the forest. She had been exploring, trying to distract herself from some dark thoughts of the past until she felt herself bump into a figure, taller than herself.

Maleficent inwardly cursed as she scanned the forest, how demeaning for a woman of her stature to have to find her own ingredients; surely she should have someone to do that for her by now.

As distracted as she was by her inner conversation, Maleficent didn't hear footsteps approaching her but she most definitely noticed the impact. Spinning on her heels, hand raised and green fireball already conjured, Maleficent looked for what had collided with her. It wasn't until she looked down that she saw it was a woman...which was most odd.

Inside the envelope is a note on thick parchment. The note reads: 'You are cordially not invited to Château de Ténèbres in The Forest of Thorns to celebrate the name day of The Mistress of All Evil. Failure to attend will result in decapitation'

Jess blinked, then nodded slowly. She cleared her throat,

"Well. I do like my head. And I do love a good party... I better grab some spare shoes, just in case.."And hurried to go pack to attend. She supposed she ought to also find a gift. Now-- What does the Evil who has everything need in her life?

...A pineapple? Maybe a pineapple.

Diablo flutters in and drops a thick envelope into Jessica's hands. The envelope was sealed in red wax, the stamp in which was a capital ' V ' made of two ridged horns, Maleficent's seal.

Jess turned the envelope in her hands, and opened it with care at a great distance from her face...

Purple Fever // Maleficent and Prince Hans

She awoke on the floor.

Cold stone gripped her back as her bones ached and groaned to rise. Her slender fingers caressed her forehead as her brain pounded to push through her skull. She manages to sit up, though every inch of her was screaming to keep still. Diablo would not come to her no matter how she called, he seemed scared.

Maleficent wrinkled her nose and pinched its bridge, trying to banish the headache. Waves of nausea lapped at her body and she passed out, her head meeting the waiting stone floor once again.

In fitful unconsciousness, Maleficent felt like she was flying. Her lungs were full of fire and she exhaled a brilliant red warmth. She could feel a cold wind beating back at her as though she had wings and all at once came the comforting screams of dying villagers, the smell of burning wood and flesh and an overwhelming sense of contentment.

She awoke on the window ledge.

Hazily, she lifted her head, almost tipping herself off the edge. Her skin was on fire. Maleficent stumbled to her bedchamber and lent against a post of her bed, ready to fall into the silks...that was until she caught sight of her reflection. The green of her skin was flecked with something else.

Gingerly, Maleficent walked to the mirror and leaned in so close it made her dizzy again. Spots of delicate lilac marked her every inch and the colour...the colour was so...pretty.

Maleficent began to laugh, not because she was amused but because she couldn't muster the energy for anything else. The laugh was unhinged and asylum-worthy but before she could be committed, she passed out once again.

She awoke in her bed.

The smell of something sweet tickled her nose and she liked it. Maleficent didn't even question this out-of-character reaction as she opened her eyes. Everything looked slightly pinker and brighter. There was a peach cobbler on her night-stand, like the kind she'd destroyed in Snow White's hands weeks before but this time...this time she devoured the whole thing. Again, she caught her reflection, she was now entirely lilac but in a dizzy, happy smog, she smiled...genuinely smiled with happiness and cooed to Diablo.

"My sweet friend, isn't life so good? How...wonderful!" She blinked, trying to shake the urge to sleep but she could feel the fire rising in her lungs. "Maybe, I'll dream of puppies!" She removed her headdress and rested back against a pillow, her hair spilling out across the other side of the bed as she succumbed to sleep once more.

Was this ever-- an odd landscape, Edward thought idly, but spared no beat of his heart to fear, no pulse of his thinking mind to terror nor the flick of his ankles to panic as he spurred on Destiny, through the dark brambles and wooded paths, through the falling dusk and the gentle sounds of wings flapping against cooling night air...

He was on the pursuit of his maiden-- was that really a surprise?-- and had managed to evade his stepmother for the day by leaving at the break of dawn. He'd heard no unearthly singing as he travelled through kingdom after kingdom, no fluttering laugh or heavenly whisper whose very thought stirred his heart and filled him with boundless hope. He'd find her, he knew he would. And, if she loved him as much as he loved her (or the thought of her, at least), then he knew she'd be looking for him just the same, and in that way-- they were bound to wander into one another soon.

But night was falling soon, and he tittered almost nervously. Hopefully, there were some friendly forest creatures about to lend him a burrow for the night. It wouldn't have been the first time...
